TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN Illuminated MIL With DTC P0D2A	22-2034 09 February 2022​
Model: Ford 2021 Mustang Mach-E Issue: Some 2021 Mustang Mach-E vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0D2A. This may be due to the parameters in the powertrain control module (PCM). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram various modules starting with the PCM. Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria: • 2021 Mustang Mach-E • Illuminated MIL with DTC P0D2A Warranty Status: Eligible under provisions of New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW)/Emissions Warranty/Service Part Warranty (SPW)/Special Service Part (SSP)/Extended Service Plan (ESP) coverage. Limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. NVLW/Emissions Warranty/SPW/SSP/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool. Labor Times Description Operation No. Time 2021 Mustang Mach-E: Reprogram The Appropriate Modules As Required By The Software Update And Service Procedure (Do Not Use With Any Other Labor Operations) MT222034​ Actual Time​ Repair/Claim Coding Causal Part: RECALEM Condition Code: 04 Service Procedure 1. Connect a battery charger to the 12-volt battery. NOTE: To prevent the battery saver mode from activating on the vehicle, make sure the negative cable of the charger is installed on a chassis or engine ground, and not the 12-volt battery negative terminal. Do not have the vehicle plugged into the high voltage battery charger during programming. This can cause incorrect module programming. Make sure only the 12-volt battery charger is installed. 2. Reprogram the PCM using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. 3. Check the availability of software updates on the following modules and update as required: Secondary on-board diagnostic control module (SOBDM) Battery energy control module (BECM) Secondary on-board diagnostic control module B (SOBDMB) Secondary on-board diagnostic control module C (SOBDMC) Anti-lock brake system (ABS) module NOTE: Only one module may be updated at a time.

Anti-lock brake system (ABS) module

I guess a lot of people will end up with their ABS modules updated with the same version several times since that still won't go away. I wonder how we'll know when there really is an ABS update available.

They actually released an SSM about this.

"SSM 50475 - 2021 Mustang Mach-E - FDRS Showing ABS Software Update Available After A Successful Coordinated Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Software Update

Some 2021 Mustang Mach-E vehicles may show a Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) anti-lock brake system (ABS) module software update available after a successful coordinated PCM software update. If the coordinated PCM software update on the PCM, BECM, SOBDMC and ABS completed, the ABS software update app still being present in FDRS can be disregarded. No further programming for this conditionis required."

Yeah, but how will we know when there really is an ABS update?

You can check in FORScan for latest known software. You can also try to run the update in FDRS and see if it works. If it doesn't actually update....or updates with the same software versions then you know you don't have one.

It doesn't really matter anyways. ABS updates at this point are incremental unless done with a larger software update.
