I was hoping the "time off" at the factory might give F time to finish at least some of what they started, but I haven't read of anyone who has actually advanced in the build process. Figured I'd just ask and see if it's happened yet (and therefore given me a little hope).

We went from 2/17/22 delivery to 5/18/22 delivery due to a chip hold.
Stinks. That's about where I am now. I was hoping that someone might have been pulled back in (maybe because Ford used this non building time to finish up what they started).

Doesn't look like it though. At least nothing that shows it yet.

Read that the plant remains idle this week. However, in a glimmer of hope, Google geo tracking (mobile devices) says there is increased activity (people) in the plant. Maybe they are doing something?

On the 1/17/22 build week thread, most of those not on chip hold appear to be from California. Maybe that's because California figures that much more prominently in the EV market and/or on this forum. Not sure.

I thought that I read somewhere that some states have a mandate that X% of volume must be EV's (eg California). It occurred to me that if Ford had few chips to install, could they be forced to stop building anything from non-EV states beause they need most/all of their limited EV volume to go to EV states to meet the state's threshold.

I DO see some movement outside of California but maybe those are vehicles without Blue Cruise or other chip-heavy configurations.

Maybe someone more informed than me has insights there?

I’m in CA and on chip hold :(

It may be a variety of factors (trim, where it’s ordered from, etc) but it does seem very random lol. I tried to see if there’s a specific trim affected but it didn’t seem like it.

I’m hoping that the June/July timelines are worst-case scenarios and things start moving slowly as ford gets more and more chips.

Built 2/14.
You were on chip hold and had your vehicle build 'finished' ahead of the 3 month delivery push? If so, that's awesome. It gives me some hope that I won't end up in a dirt field for 6 months where the rats can build a nest in my vehicle.

The original eta was 4.20. It’s now 3.17. That’s on a 6.26 order I took over from someone else.

I'm with you. Got pushed to May 31. Hoping we start seeing folks get updated delivery dates soon from the groups that got pushed back to May/June.

I’m in CA. 1/17 build, GTPE, no BC or pano, Rapid Red. Still showing an eta of 6/18.

Feels like the lottery. My intial hypothesis was that the following factors drive it:
- Configuration (eg blue cruise vs not)
- Proximity to revenue recognition (locations with shorter delivery times)
- EV States (require X% of volume to be EV?)
- Order date
- Dealer allocation (this one is the mystery meat in the bunch with the least transparency)

It seems like something is missing. Maybe they are using a Ouija board? Dart board? LOL.

I’m picturing someone in Ford going “eenie meenie miney mo” and assigning chips that way ?

It's pretty shocking the lack of comprehension in online forums. I have posted the Ford decision algorithm several times. This applies for whose car gets made, as well as whose car they put chips into. If you don't understand it, get a little kid to explain it to you. I'm coming up on 9 months myself, with a chip hold and a delivery date just shy of 1 year.

Please, bookmark this so I don't have to keep repeating myself:

Eenie, meenie, miney, moe,
Catch a tiger by the toe.
If he hollers, let him go.
My mother said to pick
The very best one

And you are not it.
