Software Updates - or Lack Thereof

Almost a year and several trips to the dealer and the automatic software update function still does not work. Was supposed to be fixed in second quarter 2021, then third quarter, then by the end of the year, then January, now February or March.

Reminds me of the young woman who told her psychiatrist that she had been married three time but was still a virgin. Oh my he asked, how can that be? Well, my first husband enlisted right after we were married and he was killed in battle before we could consummate our marriage and my second husband turned out to be a religious nut and didn’t believe in sex. But you are married now. Oh, he’s a Ford Software Engineer and just sits on the end of the bed and tells me how good it’s going to be.

Last OTA I received was in August. It tried an OTA a couple of months ago but failed 4 times and gave up.

Try turning off Automatic Updates and see what happens. (Nothing to lose, right?)

With Auto OTA turned off, you will get a message on the screen when an update is available for your car. You can then execute the update whenever you wish. That might actually work out better for you anyway. Good luck! ?

The fix is coming, but I’m not sure Ford ever said it would be OTA.

yeah, there seems to be some debate. Might be OTA fixable, might not. Fingers crossed.

Have you had 21P22 done at the dealer? If not, ask them to do it, and do all the updates available while they have the vehicle. They may grumble, but be insistent.

Hello! This doesn't sound like an experience we want you to have with your Mach-E. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd like to see how I can assist you on my end.

I'll respond in Paul's behalf. I'm sure he appreciates the response, but the issue he and many others are having is due to a failed OTA back in October. They are unable to update. This issue is known and has been documented by engineers. And a fix promised by the end of February.. today being the last day of the month, there has been no fix rolled out.

So understandably they are all upset

@Ford Motor Company could you please respond instead to to 1.7.1 stuck thread with a constructive response on how/when these problems will be fixed instead of the standard copy/paste reply asking for information. There are a lot of owners with the same issue, a lot if not most outside the US, the Ford Motor Company should be able to help all regions.
