I dislike buttons for volume. Give me a rotary control anyday. Much more responsive than a button especially for large swings - need to talk to someone in the back seat spin the knob, talk/listen, then spin it back up. No waiting for the button to slowly and steadily lower the volume one increment at a time*.

I was so happy when I saw that Ford was putting these on the screens; I just wish it could be used for more functions. Temp or Fan would be great, bring up the speed or temp controls move to the giant knob and adjust from there not the fiddly touch screen slider.

Quiet Screen mode - press and hold. Great addition to the functionality as well.

* I know cruise control will jump in 5 mph increments when held - does volume do the same?

That's the plan. It was discussed way back before the first cars were delivered.

It will be interesting to see how they implement mode switching. Temperature control will be interesting too, since the vehicle has DETC

I think Ford should get more credit for the volume knob and other physical controls they have in the Mach-E.

I absolutely love the volume knob, and use it all the time if I need to quickly turn down the volume. It's also great for a passenger to adjust the volume. Even if it doesn't have any additional functions and use it, I'm glad to have the physical control.

If it's possible for Ford to have the volume knob be context aware in some way to adjust temperature or something else, that would be appreciated.

I love the volume knob. I’ll find myself using it sometimes, instead of the steering wheel toggle.

Honestly the volume knob was what made me fall in love with the Mach E. The way the implemented an analog knob in such a futuristic way showed me that they really put thought into this car.

Completely agree. When I see what friends and family who own Tesla's have to go through to change their wipers or change volume or other functions, it makes me happy that Ford included what they did.

I understand that adding these buttons and options add weight and cost to the vehicle, but there must be some sort of balance.

Agree. That single control dial was a big factor in my decision to buy this car.

Whoa - is that the plan? Many of us have been clamoring for this for about a year now. It just makes sense.

Seems pretty simple to me. If you tap an HVAC function, the knob controls that for a few seconds before reverting back.

Pile on the compliments for the volume knob. I didn't think I'd ever use it, but now it's somehow become more natural than using even the steering wheel controls. Damn those old school analog controls, being all natural and whatnot.
I can't feel high-tech when I use it, but I do love using it nonetheless :)

Hello does anyone use voice command you never get smudgy fingerprints anywhere if you do. I do nearly everything I can using my voice once you’ve trained yourself and the system to do it it’s fantastic. Just my two cents

I hate the sound of my voice. I am pretty sure most will agree the less I talk, the better for everyone. :)

I use the "Call xxx" and "navigate to...." and those work pretty good. The call command works more than 90% of the time. The navigate to command works about 75% of the time. When others are in the car with me then I don't use voice commands at all because they invariably start talking and the system gets confused. The passenger seats in my car are occupied frequently.
