Well, that fixed the billing and I've used it once since.

They sent me an email saying they refunded me all the charging sessions before the fixed it... But only one session was refunded.

No good way to contact them for something that should be simple.
Biggest issue they have.

Just got my car and I see an offer for that has the 250 Kwh and a 2 year free trial. What is this about upgrading I am reading? Does the free 2 year trial include all the discounts from EA? Does everyone now get this offer?

Separate things. When you charge at Electrify America initiating it through the Ford Pass app (or with Plug&Charge on), your first 250 kWh will be free. The charger screen looks like you'll be charged the normal rates, but at the end of the session you'll see a credit applied to zero it out, until you've used up your free 250 kWh.

AFTER you use up your 250 free (which all new Mach-E's get), then the the normal payment options apply. One of those options is this Ford subscription plan to reduce the normal EA rates by 25%. But that discount program still isn't available to sign up for yet. It will be in Connected Services, and should show "Upgrade Available" across the Blue Oval Charge Network banner. It will be a $50/yr subscription to get a 25% discount off of standard EA rates.

The 2-year trial is a different thing. That's access to Blue Oval Charge Network features, like Plug&Charge, and paying through the FordPass wallet. That will be an optional subscription too after the 2 year trial expires, but we don't know what Ford will charge for that. No one has a Mach-E that's 2 years old yet. The first 2-year anniversary will be in December 2022.

You can also charge at EA without any of the FordPass features/subscriptions. You can pay through the EA app directly instead. They even offer their own 25% discount plan (Pass+) for $4/mo. And if you don't want to mess with that either, you can always simply pay at any EA charger via credit card (normal rates).

Why Ford hasn’t yet enabled the $50/yr program is ridiculous.

my best guess is that the OTAs and FordPass stuff is all on the back burner while they launch the Lightning.

The way this is going, it'll finally come available the day after our 2-yr free trial of BOCN access expires (which is needed to use the discount). 🤨

At that point we're gonna have to pay twice to use it... the $50/yr subscription for the 25% rate discount, and the $??? for BOCN access. Still waiting to find out how much that's gonna be. It better not be much, or people will just choose to keep paying with the EA app instead. While I'd like to save a step by using P&C, the EA phone tap is pretty easy too.

Honestly, you can just use EA pass, it's $4 per month, you can start it only when you need it, still gives you the 25%, no need to go through headaches dealing with Ford.

That's what I've been doing too (using phone tap), but Plug&Charge would be even easier.

Plus there's one other advantage of P&C... no cell signal needed for your phone. While it's rare, there are some EA stations in areas with a bad cell signal.

Yeah, but...

The EA charger uses cellular to communicate. No cellular signal, no charge session.

I heard a rumor that the cost would be

I love P&C. It is one thing that takes the sting out of the longer stop when compared to an ICE fuel stop. I brag to the ICE plebes that it is so much easier than getting gas because I just plug in without needing to do anything else. I hate the extra steps required when I don't use P&C. If it costs more, I will pay it.

I forget where I read it, but I believe if the charger can't get an internet signal it just allows the transaction regardless since it's an essential service.

Not sure if they're all cell vs wired. But even if they are, there's different networks. One person's phone may not work even if the charger does.

Well, I was at the EA location in Erie, PA. Technician was there, and commented about how one of the chargers "had ghosts" and gave free charging sometimes, as it gave me free charging.

He said that all EA chargers had 3G modems, and they had big issues with connections. They were in the process of changing them to 4G.

Anyone who thinks a charger is essential and always works has clearly never been at an EA location.

like others have said, PnC is worth the premium. I don’t need my family faffing about with the EA or FordPass app trying to initiate a charge. I just want the car to charge when I plug in and be done with it. If that means I pay the $0.43/kWh a few times a year I need it or just suck it up with $50/yr for a discount, then so be it.

I've been on the $50 EA & Ford plug and chg network for two months. Drive up, plug in, press continue on chg station and away it go's @ .31 cents per kw.

nice! It’s not available to me in my Ford account’s Connected Services yet. It’s lame.
