I am interested to know if anyone has successfully completed the Safety Recall 21S42 ... windshield removal, re-glazing and re-install . I have read lots of negative experiences but I am curious to know if anyone was able to have this safety recall abated and satisfied with the work.

It seems that the Compliance Recall 21C22 is easier task, notwithstanding that both 21S42 and 21C22 are intrusive.

My experience was not that pleasant at all !!! ... the dealer (rather not name it) here in Orlando just gave me enough excuses to discourage me to do the 21S42, but after finding in the OASIS that my VIN had the FAS 21P22 was still open, they gladly did that instead ... and send me away after agonizing for more than 3 hours at the wait room for the Customer Satisfaction Program software update... how cynical for Ford to call this a "Customer Satisfaction Program" experience !!!

Better to wait 3 hours than 3 weeks with no windshield in my car. My advice, DO NOT do the glass recall right now, wait as long as possible. In fact I would wait until my windshield gets cracked and have it done by some other glass company.

Took my Mach E in on Jan 25, they did the 21P22 and 10K service that week. It went to the body shop and the windshield was broken taking it out on January 31. They received the replacement windshield on Feb 11, and it was damaged in shipping. The dealer called that day and told me 7 to 10 more days to get another new windshield. So I will be lucky to have my car back by the end of Feb.

Until Ford can stock new windshields, they should delay this recall. Meanwhile, every few days I get 12V battery faults showing up in Fordpass. Replacement batteries are not in stock either, I just hope mine survives.

Thanks for sharing it and I am indeed very sorry about what you have gone through ... I will definitely heed to your advice!

I did the recall. Checked on my car because they said my glass broke and I needed to retrieve my garage opener. Well it doesn't look like my glass was broken but my car was sitting with windows halfway down. Inside was extremely dirty and I mean "owner passed off" type dirty. They attempted to detail it but didn't do a good enough job. I got the software update too.

They lost my cargo cover.

I had mine done in March. Closest dealer did not want to do it and asked if I could take it to the dealer I bought it from. They booked it and told me that it was possible that it may get cracked, but they just prep it for a Glass company to come in and do the actual removal and reseal. Made sure of a temp vehicle as they wanted it 3 days to allow cure (cold weather). Relatively painless and no problems.
On a side, the Glass company has a labor shortage due to Covid and the guy that came in for it traveled 140 miles to reset the windshield. Glad I don't have the glass roof.

The roof recall didnā€™t require removal. The work can be done by any competent autobody tech used to working with interiors.

I wonder about that. The glass is set with a Urethane adhesive by robot at build. This is not the first time they have had glass set problems. But on a reset, it has to be removed, CLEANED, and primed for a proper cure. I've done one on a Windstar before. Definitely something to leave with a glass company due to their specialized tools that make it safer and easy.

Thatā€˜s true for the windshield, not the roof. Iā€™d link to the repair procedure, but Iā€™m not feeling that ambitious this morning.
