Probably interested, but then find they're just bad fits for them.

BEVs tend to have a high up-front premium in the purchase price (that most younger people can't afford).

And they're also most practical for people that have a house and a garage to dependably and securely charge overnight. Without a guaranteed overnight charging outlet (at home electric rates, not retail charging station), I wouldn't even think about buying a BEV. Apartment buildings with shared parking lots rarely have that.
Adding to that is that I suspect most BEV adopters (although I realize not absolutely all) still have an ICE vehicle within the household. This, along with price and insurance, also likely contributes to wider adoption by wealthier households.

Now that it's been a little while and there are definitely more members here now, I'd love to see how much has changed for each age group.

I think it means your having a mid-life crisis and buying a Mustang. ;)
Oh my God. I just realized that's what's happening to me lol. 42 years old, reminiscing about my modified fox body mustang days, trying to find a car that has that level of performance to relive the glory years while at the same time a car with comfort and silence to enjoy the long rides.

This.... Is my early 40's mid life crisis Corvette of yesteryear.

Probably not a lot. There's 2 big near-prerequisites for buying a Mach-E:

- Being fairly well-off financially (it's not a cheap car, and there ain't any cheap used ones yet)
- Having L2 where you live, which usually means owning a house

While those aren't 100% absolutes, they surely apply to most in order for it to even be a consideration. And that usually means someone deeper into their life/career making better money (or retired).

Regarding millennials, we aren't as young as you think. The oldest millennials are now turning 40, and in this poll so far, 25% of all the purchasers are millennials. The generation has had a hard time accumulating wealth because most of us entered true professional life during a great recession, and during periods of record wage stagnation and housing cost increases. Millennials also tend to be good savers - they know they started late in being able to save for retirement so while we get blamed for not spending enough, it is often because we are actually following the advice our parents gave us and kept our debt low and added to our savings. I've been debt free other than a 3.25% mortgage for 15 years.

But that said, some of us are getting our feet under us and starting to be able to spend more. This is the first new car I've ever purchased, and the most expensive by a factor of four. The fact that it is a BEV (I decided several years ago that I wouldn't buy a new car until a BEV met my needs and budget), sporty, but still practical (I have two other vehicles now, but will sell them once I get through the break-in period with the MachE), and in my eyes, a "revival" of a classic brand are the factors that drew me in. Must be working since the age distribution is much wider than the Jaguar!

I am not surprised at all if we are mostly Gen X'ers.
I should note this is the first new car I am buying in 15 years. Many of which I did not have a car at all (I live in DC which is fairly walkable and has decent rail system). Electric cars pushed me back to thinking about buying a new car.

With that being said, you don't need level 2 at your house to make this work, but it does help to have a reliable public charging network near by with both level 2 chargers and dc fast chargers. This is more doable on the west coast, or in the Boston-Washington DC corridor. I live in a townhouse, a level 2 charger at home is unlikely to happen soon.
With that being said it is an expensive car. A professional job is a must.

On millenials, people need to remember they are born between 1981-1996. There is no millennial younger than 25, and most millennials are in their thirties, and some are now 40. They are adults who went through a great deal of crap at this point. They are grown adults, not young teens or people in their early twenties. The ones in their teens and early twenties are all Gen Z at this point.

@Astraea Right there with you! I have to admit my inner 5 year old and adult self had a happy dance moment when I took delivery of Scotty since it's an AWD Mustang. Won't drive anything that isn't AWD because of Virginia weather.

I'm 27, but have no wife or kids and have been very fortune in my companies success. I also spend way too much money on cars...so here I am. I paid cash too so I could avoid sales tax and register it in MT. Probably not the only one here that registers cars in MT to avoid taxes...

What is MT? I asked if I could use my sales tax certificate from my company but the CPA shot it down since it's not a purchase for resale.

Montana. No sales tax or personal property tax (yearly tax on vehicles in MO).
