Ok, so on Tues, I got the OTA update for the Conector overheating fix (22S41 and 22S29).

Obviously it does something to prevent or limit damage (lots of threads discussing this).

I have a '21 Oct/Nov build (build 2). I am in the Ford Early Access program, but I think since the recall fix is rolling out generally, I don't think that matters (though I could be wrong).

For me, this gave me three things I'm really excited about...

#1 by far is the faster DCFC charging over 80%! I was not expecting this. I went to EA today and it was giving me ~40kW at 85% and ~26kW over 90-92%.

#2 is an annoyance. The door lock buttons work now on the first press. Previously, I had to press it between one and forty times. It now works first try every time. Woohoo!

#3 Apple Maps planning with EV charging. I just got the notification when I opened Apple Maps today (this could be from 2.8.3 or it could be from the recall OTA — I don't use Apple Maps often enough to know)

That's two different recalls.

22S41 fixes the contactors, and updates PCM, BECM, and SOBDMC. It may also update AABS, SOBDM, and SOBDMB (per Ford).

22S29 fixes unintended acceleration. It updates PCM, SOBDCM, BECM, BCCM, and ABS.

By getting current software in specific modules, you got the new charging curve as a result (and probably a bunch of other stuff). 21P22, which 2021s through 9/30/22 got, updated PCM, SOBMD, ABS, BECM, SOBDMC, SOBDMB, OBCC, BCM, DCME, DCMF, DCMG, DCMH, and RFA. That ended up giving them the new charging curve somewhere on that list.

Is 2.8.3 available in FDRS? I’m fully updated but don’t have anything but sketch. Apple Maps shows EV chargers as an option but I thought when you route with it, it should show your ending SoC %

Apple Maps does show you ending SoC when you route, but only on the screen where you initially enter your destination.

I got the letter about the contactor fix and they mention 22S41. After scheduling an overnight update, all they mentioned being done was 2.8.2, something to do with helping me enjoy the jopurney. Looked again this morning and nothing was mentioned about an impending update. Am I missing something?

This has changed with iOS 16 Betas. Now it shows you your ending SoC all the time in the same area with your estimated arrival time. The SoC estimate will change as you drive and as driving conditions dictate right along with the time of arrival.

I don’t necessarily recommend the iOS 16 Beta at this point yet; CarPlay drops out with a hard crash once in a while and can be hard to get reconnected. If you can live with that, the multi-stop routing in Apple Maps is really nice.

Bummer, I'm on beta but am not getting anything like this yet. Shocked I can't get it via FDRS.

This is so odd, I always thought OTA updates matched FDRS with FDRS generally being first. What a bummer. Hopefully I get it soon, I'm wondering if I won't since I did do the recall updates via FDRS myself. Have you gotten it yet?

Oh, you’re a GT, so you probably don’t have the Sync update that added in the EV routing. That’s one little benefit that the Premiums got in an OTA. Once you have that, you’ll be golden.

I haven't and I'm also EA but not early EA. It's the first SYNC update for Job 2 so I'm not sure when the APIM will hit FDRS. @generaltso, for major SYNC updates, have you seen APIM updates in FDRS at the same time OTA goes out to EA?

Job 2's seem to only have a very small group getting the SYNC update so far.
