Is the Mach-e really in the same market as the 3 or the Y?

It means we are on a Ford MME forum, with all the fanboys (and a few Tesla customers that now strongly dislike Tesla). The MME is better in every way ;)

If you want to read the other side of the argument, visit the Tesla forum: Why not buy a MME

I actually enjoy reading both, and try to see fact vs fud from both sides. Some things to go Ford, some go to Tesla. YMMV.
I just don't get the distinction between "car" and "EV" when both are cars and both are EVs.

And some Tesla owners that have had a great experience with Tesla and think Teslas are great cars, but fully expect the Mach-e to be a great car too.

Yup. A good friend of mine owns a model S and loves it. While he's not a technophobe, he's also not a techie. And he plans on trading the S in and ordering the Plaid as well. He also expects the MME to be a great car too and is waiting for the unveiling of the electric F-150.

Please tell me he doesn't live on the Big Island! That would be one wasted Plaid.

Far Northern California. I-5 and other long straight roads are readily available.

I know of 2 Model S's personally on the island. One was returned from lease a while back and not replaced.

Might be better to compare to the I-pace. I know itā€™s a lot more expensive but I think they have more in common than the model y. Plus it was the car of the year so itā€™s a great benchmark.

right, but without a longer range battery they can't give them away.

I-Pace looks a bit odd, too much like a wagon which most people donā€™t want these days.

Also, the I-Pace, now thereā€™s a car that looks like itā€™s halfway between the M3 and MY.

I completely agree!! I spent a lot of time initially in that mode and was trying to determine if they had the same roots given previous Jaguar ownership. While I haven't been in the MME yet, on the luxury and appointment scale it feels like the I-Pace has the advantage. I've been in the I-Pace but only seen pictures of the MME interior so maybe unfair. From a use of technology in the cluster/cabin, the I-Pace still has the advantage for me and I think it will be interesting to see the reactions of people who are less enamored with technology. Don't flame me I'm in technology too!! The MachE winds hand down on external looks. The throwback to the Mach1 fastback is awesome looking and my brother who owned and rebuilt the engine in one once will be jealous as heck.

And so that was my dilemma, do I want my car to look good from a view that I see on entrance and exit only, or while I'm spending most of my time sitting in it. I'm betting I'll get used to the interior and hoping that I will love the driving experience. If not, I'll still be ecstatic to have another BEV sitting in my garage and replacing another ICE, even if it is a Hybrid.

It also feels weird that they tout it as having off-road capabilities. I never saw myself forging a stream in that car.
