Joking aside, have we ever figured out why Job 2 vehicles didn't get any updates (other than BlueCruise) until this past week? Hasn't 2.8.2 been out for quite a while? Even 2.8.3 went out to EA folks more than a week ago.
Nobody who knows the facts around any of the updates pretty much is willing / able to say. This is part of the ongoing cycle of complaints about communications (or lack thereof) from Ford.

There are guesses but nothing factual that has been discussed that I'm aware of.

I'm sure if a Ford representative has directly factually stated something on here, someone will enjoy correcting me.

I'm sure it's the Ford global NDA. This is the reason. I think there are only about 5 people that are allowed to say anything to anybody at Ford. People say that Ford is really bad at communication...it's not that they're bad really...it's the NDA that keeps anybody from there telling anybody who's not from there anything useful. Here's an example; have you ever heard anybody from Ford tell you that in order for your car to get OTA updates you need to be in an area of AT&T coverage where you get three bars of signal strength? Nope, cause it's buried in their documentation. Customers would never know that it had to be at least three bars for the TCU to get an update successfully.

NDA...I'm telling you...that's it. Nobody is allowed to say anything.

I know comparison to others doesn't excuse the behavior, but it is an industry wide problem. I follow the Rivian forum and there are constant complaints about lack of communication from Rivian. Tesla eliminated their marketing/commutations department. Does anyone think GM would be communicating more than Ford?

Just putting it into perspective. There are legal ramifications to revealing information and then there are government regulatory bodies monitoring and ready to penalize. Yes, we should expect more but it isn't just a Ford issue.

I’m trying to update GWM. It asks for the usb. I inject it in the car USB port located forward of my phone charger center console. I get a pop up asking me to select the drive on my laptop. Can’t find it. I did format the drive to exfat. Tried several times no luck. What am I doing wrong?

They are picky about USB drives. For example a USB 3.0 drive Some USB dives won't work for whatever reason, so you might want to try another.

You're mixed up. When you do the GWM and it FIRST asks for USB, you put it in the computer's USB to download the files onto the USB.

After that finishes, then you put it in the car's USB.

You're mixed up. When you do the GWM and it FIRST asks for USB, you put it in the computer's USB to download the files onto the USB.

After that finishes, then you put it in the car's USB.
I didn't even catch the order in his comment. Good catch Neil.

Odd indeed.
I'll have to try with a different one next time and revise my statement to "some usb sticks just don't work for unknown reasons - try a different one".

Admittedly, most of my USB sticks are convention tchotchke, so that might explain it.

I use only USB 3.0 drives. Sandisk 64GB formatted to exFat 32Gb and I always have, and have had zero issues.

This morning 6 Aug I was running VIN checks and as always I check my '21 Job 1 and Lightning. To my surprise there was an OBCC update. I have a Prem 4X ER and my current software version is LJ98-14G684-AN. I'll update this post with the revision shortly.

UPDATE: New OBCC version is LJ98-14G684-AM (going backwards? Let's see...A, B, C, D...yup M comes before N. 🤔 )
