Battery Junction Box

It happened! My car bricked in my garage due to the battery junction box. That was 6 weeks ago!

My dealership got the car the very next day and has had it since. They also got the part a few weeks after... like 3.

Here's where it gets fun....

My dealership can't get the tools to fix the car. Seriously. They're EV certified and supposedly ready to go but can't source the tools. Ford hasn't been much help and apparently other local dealers arent playing nice either.

I've been given a loaner. That's been about the only good thing that's came out of this.

I'm at a loss and seriously don't know what to do. It doesn't seem as though there's an end in sight either.

What would you do? How can I help Ford and my dealership?

One would think, right? How can a dealer be "EV certified" without that one, presumably critical, piece of kit? The lift in the Weber video has some clever tilting adjustability to the top, but hardly seems the kind of thing that would be absolutely required.

In all seriousness, I'm really sorry to hear that this is happening to you. That would make me really angry. From other threads it seems like Ford has the ability to make things happen when they want to. If it were me, I'd keep pressing on Ford to see if they can get this expedited (maybe by moving it to another dealership and prioritizing the repair).

I have a similar situation, although it’s been about 3weeks for me and the Customer Experience group told me yesterday the dealer said it would be done tomorrow. We will see… I have little to no faith that they will finish it one day after finally getting around to starting it.

The one bright spot is Ford customer experience said they will pay for my gas in the loaner - which is quite a lot in my case… just remember to keep all your gas receipts and ask Ford about that program. I’d consider lemon law with priority delivery if Ford is able to do that once mine goes past the limit.. although I don’t want the features to be reduced…

I brought my car into the dealer on Tuesday and was told yesterday that it is the Junction Box. Rep stated the part should come in today and I should get the car back Friday... fingers crossed!!!

You must be joking, right? You want a Ford dealership to use an unapproved product made by "Pake" instead of a Ford-approved product. Yours is rated for 2,000 pounds, which would be inadequate. I'm not saying they should necessarily use the Pake, I'm saying $10K for a lift seems ludicrous, and it's even more ridiculous for an "EV Certified" dealer to not have one. If they're qualified to work on an EV, they should certainly have the tools to do so. The WeberAuto guys use a different lift table from the Rotunda, so it's certainly possible to use something not Ford branded, and I have a hard time believing a Ford service department doesn't have something capable of lifting the battery. The SR battery weighs a bit over 1,000 pounds, according to Munroe, so it's not like you need an overhead crane to lift the things.

From the Weber video, the only "specialized" tool appears to be the lift table, which is not all that specialized a piece of kit.

If you're saying it's totally normal for a Ford service department to be certified to work on EVs but not be able to because there's some tool they can't get, I'd be curious what that tool is, because I'm missing something and would truly like to know.
