Just a tangential question — are you listening to something XM-specific (like Howard Stern) or just listening to music? In my previous car, I listened to Sirius XM a lot because its CarPlay “support” crashed every two or three minutes and was completely unusable. However, CarPlay is fantastic in the Mach-E, and I use Apple Music to listen to the “radio” and everything in my library already. I bought a year’s worth of Sirius XM, and I’ve listened to it for maybe five minutes since because the sound quality can’t come close to Apple Music via CarPlay.

If you’re listening to music, I’d absolutely question the need to subscribe if you have a good music service on your phone.

Interesting about the using cellular if it drops the signal - I'm not sure if the Honda has the 360L (it's a 2020) - I do know i've gotten some of the 700 channels around holiday time

I'm planning on getting the wifi connection as my little one likes watching movies in the car.

I do have apple music , however I don't feel like being DJ and I like switching between the 12 or so presets I have to find something I like - upon occasion I will switch over to apple music for one or two songs and then switch back to sirius

I listen to Howard Stern. It's worth the $5/mo to me. Well, it's actually more like $6.50/mo after taxes and fees. I would cancel if they ever made me pay full price.

Wow, I can honestly say I have never used Sirius/XM. I use Pandora. The monthly family plan is much cheaper than keeping Sirius/XM active on all our autos.

My observations:
  • When SiriusXM loses the satellite signal, it will offer to switch over to internet, but you will only see that button appear if you are on the radio screen. If you’re on another screen (such as nav), you won’t see it. It uses the car’s cellular connection, not any device you’ve paired.
  • The CarPlay version of the SiriusXM app is horrible. It looks worse than a 4 year old’s first attempt at a Swift Playground app (and I’m being generous). Also, it’s not stable or consistent. I’ll rarely try to use it to get to some of the “plus” stations, then give up in frustration.
  • SiriusXM is nice for people who like curated music and music news of specific genres and/or specific channels or types of channels (FoxNews, MSNBC, PBS, BBC, Comedy, etc). Sure, I like my music and playlists, but it’s also nice to hear stuff I haven’t heard before, like the latest Joy Division album ?

I have a random - question - My current car buffers/saves the preset channels and I can go back up to about 90 minutes from the time I started the car on any of the preset channels - does the MME have this??
Works really well on my 2022 Premium.

Mine started working this way a month or two ago. I need to figure out if I can get it to revert to the way it used to work. I have about 5-6 channels I go between to find a song I want to listen to.

What I find is, a song will start, I'll move to another station and then back to the original station within a matter of seconds, but the song on the original stations is at least 30 seconds in.

Maybe just a side effect of how I listen....."I like this song, but maybe there's a song on a different channel I'd like better".

Hit the skip back button to start the song over.

As everyone has said, you can skip back or set your player to 'start from the beginning' when you switch channels.

Works fine for my Job 1 CA/RT1. I don't go thru enough tunnels/overpasses to lose signal so can't comment.

I'd rather have it just not do that....
It's doing that because it starts from the beginning of the song (from the buffer) when you first change to that station. But when you change the station and switch it back again, the original station goes to Live so that it's not restarting the song every time you switch back and forth. In general, Ford's implementation of SXM buffering is pretty weak.

Yeah I get that, what I'd like to do is turn that buffering off. Not sure if there's a way to do that though.
