Decision between MME GT PE & Competitors; is 5 sec. perf. limit the deciding factor?

The 360 camera and hands-free BlueCruise are two of the best features of the MME (as in... competitors don't implement them or not well). The interior in PE won't be any nice than the GT... My Premium and GTPE cars were basically the same interiors except for the seats.

I doubt the i4 will blow you away. The interior and audio are instantly better but if you complain about the storage space in the MME then you will hate the i4 that has no frunk and even has less space. The i4 is subtle ninja in that the handling is so natural. I felt instantly comfortable with it and zipped around urban streets like I had owned the car for 10 years.

You may also want to consider the Cadillac Lyriq, Genesis GV60, Ioniq 5 Limited, EV6 GT (not GT-Line), Nissan Ariya, and maybe even the BMW iX (with it's wacky control system)
Wow Voxel, once again great info. I may send you a PM.

Meh - I love the GTPE. The magne ride is awesome, and the build quality is very good with solid materials. I also love the way it looks. I would say my biggest gripe is the dealership service experience, but the car and what Ford is doing with EV is great. For fun and daily driving I do find the 5 sec issue not a big deal - unless I start thinking about it and start wondering about why ?… but I do have some hope that at some point once they have more data on usage the limit will be expanded to at least 10 sec. Some have suggested that there is a rumour that Ford will be releasing an update, but don’t buy the car for that reason. As of late updates have been quite frequent, and Farley has stated that a new interface is coming. I do think we will see more and more performance updates come out - Tesla did the same to their cars and introduced software updates that improved performance. It’s a fun experience so far to enjoy this car. It just may not be for everybody.

I have a Mach-E GT PE ... I test drove the BMW i4M50... what a machine, the sound piped in (created by Harman Kardon), the speed... it was awesome... but, too small, tight and it was like driving a 3 Series but faster (my other car is 2020 750i M Sport). However, this is an SUV... the interior is beautiful, Ford pulled out all the stops on the GT PE... it handles and brakes like a dream, super fast, easy to charge... it was well built. The price on the GT PE stings a little but, it's a rocket... it's funny, there is another thread on the i4M50... the guy sold his Mach-E and loves his BMW i4M50 but, it doesn't get the same attention as the Mach-E did and it's smaller. I plan to use if for recreation... put, a hide away hitch on it... for bikes... and use it to put miles on (beach mostly)... it cost 20-30 dollars to charge is up to 250 miles... Just so everyone understands the 5 second limiter... if you're driving 80 miles an hour... and hit it... full throttle for 5 seconds... you going be over 100 miles per hour... might be closer to 120 mph. This SUV is faster than most cars... it's shocking...
Agree with your comments and also find interior pretty decent. Love the suade inserts and the seats, the sound system once it’s broken is actually quite good and quite clear. I also rarely run into the speed issue - and if you do you tend to be at speeds where you could lose your license.

This does sound concerning and obviously you are very "concerned". So my question is this, if it bothers you this bad why do you still have it? Seriously honest question as I am trying to make an important financial decision to buy one. For example, are you holding out with hope that Ford corrects this with software update (which sounds like this is all it is) or does the car meet all your other expectations that this is just an annoyance and not worth trading it in for something else?
I live in Florida, cold weather performance isn’t a concern of mine. Just pointing out things to others as some people do drive in the cold.

The car is great for me. I don’t take road trips in it and don’t drive in the cold.

When people ask- I tell them it’s the perfect “around town” car.

The point about cold weather passing is just the counterpoint to those who think highway passing speeds are fine.

And like I said, they are……. If it’s warm outside.

To answer your last questions. I used to hope Ford would release more power. But with the recent recall, I gave up that hope.

The car, for me, does almost everything I want. If something comes out better (faster, better looking and around the same price) I would consider it.

But that vehicle doesn’t exist IMO, yet.

Porsche Macan GTS (2024) I will keep my eyes on.

Blazer SS as well, but my gut says it won’t be any better (and isn’t better looking). Would likely be a lateral move, like swapping a mustang for a Camaro (personal preference, but kinda the same car).

I drove my GTPE with 4 ? fully loaded with ? and family for 4 days this weekend in varying hills and other temperature conditions, including an hour drive home today in temperatures that jumped from 72 to 110F once we left the shore and went over Santa Cruz mountains.

Car preformed great, no issues whatsoever, and, really, it’s really fast even with it’s known limitations especially compared with Dino juice cars.

Good points! Yes, I saw that up and coming Blazer SS and thought about a second if it would be worth waiting for it. I have since decided not and agree it would likely be a lateral move, plus right now the jury is still out on it anyway.

I’m talking about trying to pass a tractor trailer on a 2 lane highway in the very cold.

Could be extremely dangerous to try and not know what kinda power to expect.

When it’s really cold, the high speed acceleration slows to a crawl.

This shouldn’t happen in a performance vehicle.

Might be better off trying in a smart car. At least you’d know exactly what to expect and how slow it is. For our cars? Don’t know until you try and the results are significantly different depending on the cold.

In the top speed autobahn winter test, it took 57 seconds to hit 124.

Almost any modern car (that isn’t limited below that) could hit 124 faster.

And no, you don’t need to go 124 to pass, it just shows how obscenely slow it gets in the cold. Saw a car time a 124 mph run in the summer and it only took like 13 seconds from 70 to 124.
Yeah I’m not that concerned, I’m sorry. I know my car will easily pass a tractor trailer above 80mph in the cold. I don’t think it’s dangerous. Maybe a full winter with this car will change my mind but I never felt it was dangerous to drive on the highway.

Same. I have abandoned all hope of any substantive software improvements, not that I had much hope to begin with. The longer we wait, the clearer it becomes that nothing will be delivered.

I agree, the GTs are great city cars. So long as you don't drive them in the cold or over long distances (and I don't).

For sure “cold” is relative.

But watching that autobahn video when at full throttle it is creeping up at less than 1 mph per second, all I could think of was the little engine that could saying “I think I can I think I can…..”

That video has been bandied about a ton but all I can go by is my own experience, not someone’s video.

That’s an odd way to live life.

Ignore all external evidence?

Truth does exist even if you don’t have to experience it yourself.

One person's video in a specific circumstance isn't going to be everyone's experience. It's not how I "live life", it's that specific video...

But keep telling people it's dangerous to drive the GT in cold weather.

Are you suggesting that your car would behave differently in the same weather? Do you think the video is fake? I honestly have no clue what point you’re trying to make.

I’ve already pointed out it’s not a concern for me in Florida, but if you live in the mid west, Canada, etc, then cold weather performance is a valid concern.

Edit- now I’m even more confused by your response based on your thread complaining about the exact same thing:
https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/performance…-issues.16866/

I was driving my GTPE on the highway today, 68°, sun shining, pretty high state of charge. And yet look how many bars were on the power meter. I’ve never actually seen that many and I got this car in the dead of winter!
Anyone seen that many in what seem to be pretty optimal conditions?

I think it's the same guy who in one thread mentions a 1500 mile road trip, and in another says he doesn't take road trips.

Definitely wasn’t me. But I was in that same thread. Electric Goat was talking about taking his car on a road rally.
