Took ownership today and the dealership was super helpful .. rates on finance are definitely higher than my last purchase 4 years ago.. but I got good trade in for my 2019 fusion and honestly the car is spectacular.. it’s most expensive car I’ve ever had but I also know that if I hadn’t had on order I’d be way more out of pocket .. they do have to install the part for the inspection/recall but was safe to drive and I took home today ..

I am still being cautious and the hardest part really is just hearing all the negative comments from people who are against EV
I understand—EVs are still in their infancy and people hate what they don’t understand. I get being cautious but to me it’s like having a child—you want to protect and care for them but also want them to experience life to the fullest 🤣

Awesome and congrats. I've got 28K on mine now and still love driving this car.

A lot of people think they're going to be driving a golf cart with the battery life of a smartphone. Range anxiety is real - I remember with my first EV, a Nissan Leaf, the salesperson actually talked us out of getting the extended range version. Said we wouldn't need it, and he was right. I had assumed the battery percentage would drop like crazy at highway speeds and powering up mountains, but even the Leaf's relatively small 40 kWh battery (the Mach-E is either 70 kWh or 91 kWh, depending on which battery capacity you took) proved the salesperson right. And the driving experience was so far above a gas-powered car, with the instant and silent acceleration. Ownership is also far above a gas car; I charge at home every day, no wasting time at gas stations. Even better, I have ample solar panels and battery systems, so the electricity to power my travels literally costs me nothing.

EVs aren't for everyone at this point in time, but most people I've spoken with who try them agree that once you go EV, there's no going back. We're not at the tip of the wave anymore, but we're still at the forefront. As EVs become more prevalent across the country, there'll be fewer skeptics... and when the prices finally come down, the question people ask will become, why are you still driving a gas-powered car?

Sold my Leaf and picked up my Mach-E a week ago, it's an amazing vehicle. Enjoy yours!

There are always people who resent evolution. This same naysaying occurred with the shift from wooden wheels to pneumatic tires.

I do EV events with my car. I deal with the "arms crossed" skeptics all the time. I've only had my MME for three months but have researched the hell out of the industry. I can usually debunk most of the negativity. In the end, it is your money and your choice in what you drive.

My Mach-E is also the most expensive car I've ever owned. I'm babying it less these days though. She's tougher than I think she is 😉.

Enjoy the car. Lots of knowledgeable folks with over a year with the Mach-E in these forums. I've found them very helpful.

Congratulations on your car! Great color!

I don't discourage the negative comments, because often they are correct. BEVs are not ready for the general public, IMO.

The most common comments I get are regarding charging and range, which are problems unless you can always charge at home. And that is what I tell people: if you only charge at home, it is awesome. If you have to find a charger on a trip, it could be a big challenge. It takes planning, and now charger congestion is becoming a real issue so you can't even plan on a 30 minute stop. It could be an hour or more.

BEVs are still best for early adopters, like most of us in this forum. We are willing to deal with a little DCFC pain because the car is so great. I took it on vacation and it was awesome except for one DCFC stop, which was enough to make my wife say she doesn't want to take it on long trips.

And she is right. Who wants to wait an hour for a charge? Not many people. Not me either, unless we can time that around a meal.

Please understand that what others say is unimportant. I hope your car has years and years of enjoyable experiences for you. At times, some people will express their jealousy via negative comments. These can be ignored.

That is a very beautiful color. You should be happy with your choice, your purchase, and your experience. Congratulations.

Remember all the people who still wanted to ride their horses when the model T was out and then just laugh at them

Henry Ford's infamous quote "If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses".

Exactly, it’s my favorite poster they hang in the Ford’s Garage restaurants, it applies to so many other industries too

I’d say that most of the questions I’ve fielded resulted in approving “hmmms.” People are genuinely curious and they’re usually pleasantly surprised by the answers. I think the biggest revelation is that you charge it in the garage at night 99% of the time. In their mind, they’re just wondering “where are all the electric gas stations?” It’s kind of like, “oh, I didn’t think of that.”
