You basically nailed it. If you’re cross shopping Ionic 5 with a Premium MME, then you’re only seriously considering the Limited, and it’s basically impossible to find one. The only one near me right now is in the shooting star matte grey, aka huge liability grey. ?

… And my wife says the same thing, haha.
Limited AWD with 20" wheels has terrible real world range on the highway.

A fellow Floridian is trying to sell or trade his in for a SEL AWD (with 19" wheels) instead. He's getting 225 miles in warm weather here on the highways.

It depends on a/c use and road attitude. I own both cars and HI5 has more clear GOM reports , good miles per kW so even limited awd my default commute car. MME is more weekend fun car.

If I need to choose 1 of them today it would be one of the hardest choices to make.

$55k for a car that looks like it was created in the world of minecraft, from an economy car company, is just something I cannot wrap my head around. Batteries are expensive, i get it. But the design is another radical departure from industry norms, which is what drove me to the MachE/Etron. And the backend of the Kia just looks weird. Don't get me wrong, the Hyundai is cool in its own childish way, but i don't want to pull up to the valet in it. Trader Joe's parking garage... Sure.

I love my Hyundai Ioniq 5 which I bought while waiting for the MME order to materialize (3 months in with MME delivery ETA drifting away). (I used my trade-in "markup" to offset the Hyundai dealer markup.) I'm still waiting for the MME. If delivered in October, it would be 10.5 months after ordering.
I probably will buy it and gift it; I expect the price protection and no-ADM promises to be honored and to utilize the second Fed tax credit before the end of the year.

I find the Ioniq5 styling not to my taste. I am sure that lots of people find it to their taste. I just prefer my MME. 🤷‍♂️🐩

Meh.. the real world range of the Limited AWD is definitely less than a MME AWD ER or Model Y.

I own a GT PE now and that is terrible on efficiency (2.6 to 2.8 mi/kWh). I might get 230 miles of real world range with 100% battery compared to 280 miles with a AWD ER or Model Y in the same driving conditions + speed (70mph-75mph).

My daily is now the BMW i4. Everything about it is what I wanted in my other EVs - premium interior, premium audio (makes the MME and Tesla audio system seem poor), butter smooth suspension, BMW handling, great range, hatchback rear.

If you asked me which I prefer between an MME or Model Y... I'd give the slight nod to the MME but the i4 walks over both.

I had the opportunity to buy an SEL AWD and an EV6 GT-Line at MSRP recently but didn't feel like downgrading. I'm done with changing EVs :)

No they are on lots now. Often dozens available per dealer too.

….

If you need an EV now and can live with an SE and SEL with fewer features than a Mach-E Premium… it is good choice.
Unfortunately not the case in Canada. I really like these cars but there are huge waits and dealer mark ups, plus I couldn’t get along with the lack of cargo space compare to the MME.

Where did you see the SEL AWD and EV6 for MSRP?

Given what the MME ADM is, I shudder to even contemplate what the BMW ADM might be. I have no doubt that I’d be paying enough ADM to supply half of Munich with natural gas this winter!

Yeesh, just built an i4, to get it to match the important specs of our Mach-e it would cost about $18k more, have less rear leg room, less front head room, less hip room, not be a hatchback... that's quite a list. I like the i4 quite a bit, but can't understand paying that kind of money for a sedan with so much less space for the humans that I would hope ride in it, myself included. But we are all tall so it's a higher ranking item I guess.

Would love an iX if the price was right, especially seeing the range OOS Motoring got on the 70 MPH range test. If the EV infrastructure matures enough I feel confident in getting rid of the truck, something like that may be a good alternative. Assuming some other SUV/Truck doesn't come out that takes the crown anyway. I am glad the MME production capacity was increased this year, too bad it came at the expense of the EV Explorer debut being pushed out.

Also, while waiting for the MME to be delivered, the two California incentives I qualified for were lost to me. I suppose I'll have to live without the MME puddle light while enjoying the Hi5 roof window motorized shade. ;)

At $56K, the Limited is to close to the Premium AWD ER. However dealer markups are close to $5K sometimes $10K. The Limited trim is very rare and only SEs and SELs exist on dealer lots. I had put deposit on a Limited a few weeks back and that’s how you can secure one.
I was initially very excited about the Ioniq 5 but switched to MME because:
1) I care more about the interior than the exterior b/c I spend more time in the car than outside the car looking at it
2) I don't care about performance, all these cars have plenty of get up and go for a practical car
3) I think MME's dashboard layout will be superior
4) The price difference to the Limited, when you take the ubiquitous dealer markup, results in a similar price, and the limited is the only sensible trim
5) I hear dealers are far worse than Ford dealers
6) the only interesting color is teal

Regarding #5: After getting our 1st MachE I briefly looked at a Hyundai Ioniq Electric as a commuter. The salesman was polite but you can tell the dealer is used to selling cars to people who....don't have many options.

As for the Ioniq 5, I personally think the design is going to get old, fast. Think: PT Cruiser.

I've also already seen one (ironically leaving Autozone with detailing products) with blotchy matte paint. I think the matte paint is too much upkeep for most buyers. I'm not even sure there's an automatic carwash near me you could run one through.
