Given what the MME ADM is, I shudder to even contemplate what the BMW ADM might be. I have no doubt that I’d be paying enough ADM to supply half of Munich with natural gas this winter!
The BMW dealers in the Orlando area are amazing. Zero markup and zero junk. Complete opposite of the scummy Hyundai/Kia and some Ford dealers I had to deal with.

BMW and MINI are part of the same auto group. My MINI order + purchase was awesome too.

Where did you see the SEL AWD and EV6 for MSRP?
Hyundai of St. Augstine in FL. They had two a week or so ago (I was offered but I had just bought the i4). They have a SEL RWD right now I think. They called me yesterday.

Regal Kia in FL also sells EV6s at MSRP. I have an order with them but I moved that to the GT (not GT-Line).

Yeesh, just built an i4, to get it to match the important specs of our Mach-e it would cost about $18k more, have less rear leg room, less front head room, less hip room, not be a hatchback... that's quite a list. I like the i4 quite a bit, but can't understand paying that kind of money for a sedan with so much less space for the humans that I would hope ride in it, myself included. But we are all tall so it's a higher ranking item I guess.

Would love an iX if the price was right, especially seeing the range OOS Motoring got on the 70 MPH range test. If the EV infrastructure matures enough I feel confident in getting rid of the truck, something like that may be a good alternative. Assuming some other SUV/Truck doesn't come out that takes the crown anyway. I am glad the MME production capacity was increased this year, too bad it came at the expense of the EV Explorer debut being pushed out.
You need to sit in an iX... that SUV has the stupidest controls of any car I've driven. Why is there volume control and cruise follow distance on the center console?? The base price is $84K with a REASONABLE config with DAPP (adaptive cruise control) being almost $100K.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Out of Spec: Should you buy the IONIQ 5 or the Mustang Mach-E? 1663735133174

I got the i4 used but with the tax credit subtracted (it was a friend's). It's basically a refined version of a Premium RWD ER. Think Ford releasing a 2024 Mach-E with fixes and improvements. Better suspension, faster UI, upgraded audio system, more efficient drivetrain.

A buddy of mine has had nothing but awful things to say about Fields BMW. Of course that data point is 20 years old. He now lives in Towson, MD

Sigh, but isn’t an i4 pushing close to $100K? And I need AWD - I live in the northeast - we have snow. And I used to have a jaguar, so I’m spoiled as far as real wood trim goes. I don’t need someone else’s poor attempt.

This might been covered in the 8 pages of posts, (sorry if that is the case...) - I recently took a multi-state trip in my MME. At an Ohio EA DCFC station, there were two young guys in an Ionique with California plates, charging away as I pulled up. After I walked the pup during my charging time I walked over and checked out their Ionique and we started talking. I asked about their obviously long cross-country trip. One of them laughed and said "this Ionique came with a 2-year unlimited DCFC charging for free, so we're taking a cross-country trip because it's Summertime and we might as well use the free charging as much as we can".

I laughed, then as I drove away started thinking about what a brilliant inducement such a selling strategy is for that car maker to bust into the EV market (or actually "into the car market overall").

I guess it depends on your definition of "pushing". It's $63k for the AWD version, which compared to mach-e prices for 2023 is about right. But as with most of the "premium" manufacturers, a lot of the basics are pretty big up charges, like heated seats and adaptive cruise and that. Also, BMW not long ago tried to push CarPlay as a subscription fee. I would be hesitant to get in with them if they have any ideas of pushing that nonsense.

I don't think it's unreasonably priced for an EV at all. But if you have a family of four and you want a vehicle for them as well, the Mach-e and other vehicles look better since the interior of the i4 is smaller in most every dimension. If it's mainly just you driving to work, it sounds great, but would also probably just get a Chevy Bolt if it was just me. Would still have heated seats and steering wheel, just not a sub-4 second 0-60, which is pretty useless overall.

The iX definitely pushes 100k in most configurations.

Actually, I’m trying to steer a buddy of mine away from the Model 3 and into an i4 (he despises SUVs and only wants a “sedan”) I’ve only stopped by the local BMW store a couple of times and found the salespeople to be a bit off-putting.

The wait times for i4s is now 12+ months I think.

I would have suggested a Polestar 2 but after my recent test drive of one(which was great) I do not think it is worth the $66K price tag for a fully loaded one. It feels more like a $45K car due to cheap interior, poor audio, buggy infotainment, low range... and yes... even cheaper feeling than a Model 3.

I'd nudge your friend towards an Ioniq 5 or EV6 as they are sedan-like anyhow. And availability is much better.

I was waiting to order an i4 40e (wonderful suspension and handling) until they dropped adaptive cruise control on the 40e. That and the loss of the fed tax credit after 12/31/2022 killed the deal for me. Maybe in the future. It's a great vehicle IMHO.

It is a good selling strategy; however, I worry that there will undoubtedly be buyers who will be using the free charging as their primary charging means to save on their home electricity. Effectively, this would increase wait times at high speed charging stations for road trippers that actually need them. Second, I would worry about the impact on longevity of the battery packs if they are being regularly charged on L3 chargers versus L2. I think my preference would be if automakers partnered with L3 providers by giving new vehicle buyers a certain number of years in their membership programs. That would still provide cost effective charging for the customer; however, the customer would continue to have an incentive to charge at home since it would remain the cheaper option of the two. It seems like a nice middle ground.

You should not lose your deposit. Contact your states attorney general if you did.
Tesla got around that by charging an "order fee" instead of taking a deposit when you order a car. IIRC they did that around 2yrs ago. And the "order fee" used to be $100 and is now $250.

These cars aren't having any issues selling, though. Having the free charging might be goosing the ADMs, but that doesn't help Hyundai or Kia per se.

The polestar has a google spyware-based interface. The Hyundai/Kia are non-starters (SUVs).

Just curious what's your evidence for this?
