Well as I said ...you're not the only one in the EU with this problem this morning. In fact the previous poster @MyDutchMachE had his car in and they couldn't update his software on the GWM because I think there is a server issue that's preventing the correct version of the software from downloading. And so that's why I think we're seeing two updates for the GWM modules in both your car and his.
It isn't just EU. My GTPE (Prius Edition until 9/27) also shows two GWM's as of this morning. If it wasn't pouring rain I'd go out to see what versions download to USB.

As they say on Monty Python....
And now for something completely different, a Mach-E with two Gateway Modules:

(Just like the previous EU poster apparently, server issue?)
WF0TK4SX8MME01321-22-Sep-22.png

So...in FDRS when hovering your mouse over each of them to view the "tooltip" notes we can see a version number:

WF0TK4SX8MME01321-22-Sep-22GWM1.png

and

WF0TK4SX8MME01321-22-Sep-22GWM2.png

Which one would you pick? I think I'd go for the one with the higher base number and then see if a newer version pops up in the list later.

This is very interesting. Never seen that before. @Gimme_my_MME , @MachLee, @WyldStallyn ought to have a look at this. Double gateways seems to be trending this morning in the EU....

I only see the 18.0 one showing up now. Did you update your FDRS to 33.5.3 yet Mike?

Yeah, I did yesterday evening. Was wondering myself if there was a connection there.

@Mike G what do you think the chance is that everyone who got screwed by the dealer on 21P22 might have had a deeper problem. I know for my car, I was in stuck-pre-1.7.1 "sync version: --" limbo when they attempted 21P22 in Feb. The stuck only got fixed with 21G01/22B08 which was June.

I'd asked about the bluecruise install at an earlier appointment (March or May I don't recall) and got something along the lines of "it wasn't available for my car yet" despite me having the "go to your dealer or get OTA" hardcopy from Ford.

It makes me think of the bad old RedHat 4.x RPM-dependency-hell days. I don't know if Ford does that with module versions, but I would expect so. It certainly happens everywhere else in software engineering.

@RyanSD @ahern149 @daiprime -- did you have the stuck-updates problem? When did that get fixed, relative (before/after) to your dealer attempted 21P22?

Edit: @Paul H too, for the same question.
I didn’t have any of the stuck updates either. Quite the opposite as my car was added to the Early Access program as well as the Advanced Analytics Program and I was receiving Sync4a updates on the regular.

Dealership just gave me a call and said my car was, again, ready for pickup. Hopefully they did all of the updates this times. Gonna be pissed if I have to go back a 5th time.

Anyone care to save me a trip and can the VIN?

Appreciate this thread and group. I really really want to enjoy this car. I’ve been a bit sad at the idea of getting rid of it, so I can have something more reliable. The car is a ton of fun to own. When it works. It shouldn’t be this difficult.

Just got my car back from dealership. Last time I went there they installed the wrong color parking sensor (white instead of black) and scratched my car. No other dealership would fix their shitty sensor work so I had to go back. I thought well at least I can get my software updates. They said installed 21G01 but I'm pretty sure they didn't see no Alexa, no frunk button etc.

@Mike G any chance you can confirm my suspicion? VIN is 3FMTK3SU3MMA09752 . At this point I don't know what OTA version I'm on.

For those of us who do our own programming there are some basics that we all learn to adhere to (within reason). Have a good internet connection, a decent powersupply for CAN bus programming, a fast USB 3.0 drive, a laptop setup so it doesn't go to sleep in the middle of the exciting bits, and whenever you see a GWM (gateway) or TCU (telematics modem) module in your available updates list you should always program those first so that other downstream dependencies will be enabled.

So after all that programming on that huge list you had the other day.....what do they leave not done?

5 Mar '21 build date, Job 1 car.

So I can tell you the APIM revision your car has "-EJ" does does mean that your Sync version should be at least 364 and if that's the case your APIM is at a level where BlueCruise functionality should be available. (That would be comparable to OTA 2.8.3 for a Job 1 car). Yes there is another APIM update available, but they probably didn't do that one because you were only in there to get 21G01 (BlueCruise) and they stopped updating when they got that to work. And unless you've done the FORSCAN hack and the most recent BCM and GFM updates (in your list below) you're not going to see a frunk button yet in the Access menu in Sync.

You have no other updates relating to cruise control functions in your available list:

I also have a Job 1 car that I keep totally up-to-date using FDRS, and I do not have Alexa yet, so I don't think that available APIM update is going to get you Alexa. I don't think that has been released for our cars yet. I know that '22 MY cars have it now, and my Lightning has it (I turned it off), but I'm pretty confident '21 MY Job 1 cars in general don't have Alexa yet.

I can't tell you how helpful this is. Thanks so much! Typical of this dealership, I TOLD them I had a seat issue with easy entry/exit and of course they don't install DSM *sigh* I also do want the HVAC one as I'm hoping that alters the button function so you can turn AC off without having to lower the fan speed - such a bad UX.

@Mike G follow up noob questions.
1. are any of updates you noted above incapable of being delivered OTA?
2. if not do you recommend going to dealership to get them? as I can't think why they aren't just shipping the updates out

I’ve been stuck on 2.7.1 for months now

WACM and GSM are done with FDRS only.

They will only be updated if you express a concern that would cause the tech to update that module in response. Have to be paid for under warranty.

So the WACM is pretty easy...."My significant other's iPhone 13 (or your own if you have one) gets really hot but doesn't charge well at all".

The GSM is normally only done if there are Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) that the service advisor can see in the PTS Connected Vehicle "Dashboard" when they pull up your car's VIN. You can call the service advisor right now and they can tell you what codes they are seeing...in real time.

The RFA can be updated via OTA but it hasn't so far AFAIK. So that one would be updated if your phone loses bluetooth connectivity with the car a lot or you use PAAK but it doesn't always or immediately let you unlock the doors or start the car right up.

The HVAC also hasn't been updated by an OTA (like ever?) and would be updated if you experience your windshield fogging at times or not enough heat coming out of the vents, or your HVAC settings aren't retained between starts.

So like I said you need to make a list of 'customer concerns' so you're prepared when you go in next time.

That’s unfortunate. They said ”it took a day and a half to get the Blue Cruise working again”, which was an odd statement considering it hasn’t worked yet. I’ll pass this along. They still have the car. It’s now in the body shop for the windshield and roof recalls.
Okay.. they say it is done now, and they rechecked the modules for 21P22. Is it possible for someone to run my VIN again before I pick it up tonight? VIN 3FMTK3SU3MMA10707. Thank you for all the help!
