Is no one else starting to get nervous about the ranges we keep hearing reported? @jdmrc93 says 230-240mi, @ChasingCoral shows 240mi, several of the roadshow units are 240-250mi, Instagram and other sneak shots top out at ~250mi but most commonly less.
Is a real-world range, during warm weather, of ~240mi not concerning to anyone?? That’s not even remotely competitive, and while these have been test cars, the numbers have been very consistent and I see no reason for them to be inaccurate with that much reproducibility. 2.3mi/Kwh is pretty paltry compared to the Model Y, especially after last week’s range increase. Even the 21” Performance Y gets more than 260mi, and has a heat pump for more consistent weather-related range.
I love the car as much as anyone else, but at what point do we raise a red flag that EPA hasn’t been released with Barely a month til purchases start, No reviews, and a number of consistent sightings of ~240mi real-world. For <50mi more than a $17k Chevy Bolt, I don’t know how I can justify a +$50k purchase as a primary vehicle, especially in a northern state.
The best we’ve seen is a 7hr trip in Norway that squeezed 300mi with a mind-numbingly slow speed of 48mph. Starting to think about getting cold feet on my preorder.
