Not sure if you are suggesting this, but I am not aware of any evidence that the highway mapping serves any purpose for BC v1.0 other than geofencing the spots where hands-free is available. Ford has had about a billion opportunities to disprove this, but they are remaining conspicuously silent on the issue.

It seems implausible to say the least that the lane centering functionality necessary for hands-free would ever rely upon highway map data for something so important. Too imprecise, too subject to change. The LC functionality is likely provided exclusively by the MobileEye camera tech.

By contrast, BlueCruise v1.2 will likely rely upon the highway mapping for the new Predictive Speed Assist feature.

But BC's current spottiness at certain curves is likely Ford being overly cautious about MobileEye capability - not an actual lack of any "map data."
What I meant is the map data drives the geofencing. There’s no reason it should cut out on a straight section of road but you see those dropouts in the data.

Well, seems like from the website prior models of the mache may not get it, but I guess if it does it will probably be a while
I would be pretty mad if that was the case, since one of the selling points is the OTA ability. My car was the *last* production week for 22. It's absolutely silly to expect people to pay that subscription for it and not get the updates either.

I'm fairly confident we will get it, just a matter of how long it takes them to push the update.

I mean it depends if they had to change the hardware to get it to work, if that was the case no updates likely. If its the same hardware then yeah it will probably come to the 2022/2021 mache

Very impressed with where it shows the BlueCruise “breaks” in my area. It’s spot-on.
And even if they are planning on deploying 1.2 to older vehicles, there’s no way they’ll confirm that or announce when. They’ve learned their lesson and don’t want another frunk disaster.

Would be nice if they could integrate charging locations with the map for trip planning. Set your destination and it shows you the BC route with coverage and charging spots. Or will it do this already?

Wow, that interactive map looks super darn accurate! These curves are part of my typical drive and I can attest it drops hands free mode just as shown.

Agreed.

The map shows those "sharp curves" where BCHF cuts out:

It also shows those sections where BCHF blinks out going through EZPass toll readers (single red dots):

Honestly saying "It will be coming but we don't have a timeline yet" is way better than leaving it ambiguous to if we'll even get it at all.

In my opinion, this will come to older models eventually. But Ford is smart not to state that. As soon as they say that it's coming, people will be screaming from the roof tops that it was PROMISED by a certain date, which Ford will almost certainly miss. Better to keep it an unexpected bonus than have an angry mob demanding that Ford fulfill their promise immediately.
It'll come right after @Jimrpa gets his frunk software.

That would be taken as a promise and mythical dates would be stated by others enough that they would become fact.

My bet is that it will be well after @Jimrpa gets his frunk button.

Anyone making up dates when Ford is forthcoming with an unsure timeline of the rollout is not their problem. It's better to straight out tell us that we are or aren't getting it.

I don't have my MME yet, but how does someone know if you have the BlueCruise?

My MME gets to me around Mid-Dec
