Any idea when the update will show as available?

Seems odd a brand new car does not have the latest software or that it is showing as available.

Sorry if this has been covered before. Car just arrived on 12/22. As such I am still “moving in.”

I am really looking forward to the camera access in the status bar.

Also Ford I assume you read these threads…

Please add the Frunk and Rear Hatch buttons to the status bar when in Park. When stopped and in Drive please enable the Rear Hatch button. When stopped and in Reverse, please enable the Frunk button. Disallow acceleration if the Frunk or Rear Hatch are open and in Drive or Reverse. Neither of these buttons logically belong in the drive mode selection screen.

Huh I thought the '23's were shipping with the new interface. Also the new interface arrives on 4.1.2.

Wouldn't this be something that the dealership could install prior to delivery?

They're not going to spend the time updating car modules unless there was a problem with something upon delivery or there was a major problem with recently shipped cars and they were directed to by Ford.

Nobody will be able tell you that.

Not unless somebody is going to pay them to do it. Ford will only pay if there's some kind of bulletin instructing them to do so.

Sure, but to me, this is another failing of the dealership model. If I were Ford leadership, I would want my flagship BEV passenger car rolling off lots with the most up to date software that my developers have pushed.

This was discussed in one of the 4.x update threads, but the short version is that 23's come with an older version of the new interface that is rolling out in the 4.1.2 OTA. Aside from any under the hood bug fixes/improvements, if I recall correctly the only noticeable difference is that in our 23's, the camera button was not yet located on the top ribbon.

To my knowledge, our options are:
1) Wait for the 4.1.2 (or later) OTA to come to us.
2) Go to a dealer and attempt to persuade them to check for and install any available FDRS updates. If they are willing, you would most likely have to pay them. They might do it for free if you bring the car in for another issue and ask them to also do any available software updates.
3) Find someone with the necessary equipment and license to check for and install any available FDRS updates.
4) Purchase the necessary equipment and license to check for and install any available FDRS updates ourselves.

Regarding #2 - #4, it's possible that there are no available FDRS updates. I don't think I've read about anyone checking on a 23 yet.

While the camera button on the ribbon would definitely be nice, I'm content to wait for the OTA myself, though it could take a while.

@gryphon I'm in the Bay Area and I can check to see if there's any updates for your car if you want to DM me your VIN.

Thank you very much, that's kind of you. Unfortunately, my car is in Richmond right now and by the time it arrives at WC Ford, it very well may not be "mine" any longer. It's a long story...

Yes, that would be nice.

That's a safety issue.

Disallow acceleration if the Frunk or Rear Hatch are open and in Drive or Reverse.
That's really dumb and probably illegal. Now if your trunk or frunk doesn't close you're stranded.

If its the only BEV passenger car, does that still count as a flagship?

If you hadn't learned about the 4.1.2 update from this forum, would you be happily driving around right now, or still have a feeling something is missing? Pretty sure its honestly the former.

Despite progress being slower than most expected, Ford *has* gotten better at OTAs over the past 2-years. OTAs are still not perfect and a long ways to go, but "better", I'd say yes.

2023s are being shipped with an older version of Sync than what is being installed OTA or via FDRS. 592 vs 640 I believe. 640 which should come as OTA 4.1.2 Adds the camera button to the top row. Not sure what else it changes.

it's the latter. the whole car is missing because ford will be unable to deliver his car by 12/31.
