Wanting to get a 20X9 setup with the new Michelin Pilot EV tires but those tires are only available in 245 or 255/40R20. I notice everyone sizes it 45R20. Any ideal if 255/40R20 will have any negative impact?

They should be okay - just less overall diameter than stock.

Make sure the offset on the 20x9 you spec allow for clearance.

Wheel and Tire package installed. A bit contrarian I guess, but I went down to 18's - wanted the cushion and "beefy" tire look. Only $50 for the tirerack partner in my area to come do the install - sure why not! So they brought the wheels to me and did the swap.

It appears you may have your password saved in your location, which everyone can see. I would fix that right away if that is actually your password.

I like beef too.... mostly because we have pretty rough roads, potholes, and I have to drive on lots of (pretty rough) dirt roads to various Job Sites.

I stuck w Select 18" wheel diameter, but bumped up +1 on width with Enkie TS-V 18x8.5" , and Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus 245/55ZR18

gotta say the Contis have way better traction than the factory Michelins ever did.

Don't think I've shared the setup that was on my Mach-E in this thread...

Forgestar CF5V Anthracite 20x9 +40 Square
Continental Cross Contact LX25 265/45R20 (has DWS Technology)
Rokblokz "Rally" Mudflaps

Mach-E was also lowered on KW V3 coilovers

Can anyone show some detailed pictures of how flush a 20x8.5 40ET wheel is please? Every shot in this thread of that setup is not too close. I'm wondering if I need to go with 35ET instead. Perhaps @markboris you have some insight?

Also @Discount Tire I'm hoping to cop some TSWs and tires from you guys. Is there member discounting? Can you help me find a set that meets the above? Yours and Tire Rack's site make it hard to specifically search by size.

Thank you!

I think Conner has the closest setup you are looking for beings his wheels are 40ET but are 9” wide. I’m willing to bet they sit in around 1/4” from the top of the wheel lip mounding with his 265/45’s.

I am running 35ET 9” wheels with 265/45’s and they are perfectly flush with the top of the wheel lip molding. When I run 275/40’s they poke about 1/8”.

All that said, if you are going to run 40ET with an 8.5” wide wheel, you wouldn’t have any poke if that’s what you are worried about.

Also it can sometimes depend on the shape and style of the tire sidewall. Some are flat while others are quite rounded an bulge a bit.

Absolutely, we appreciate the opportunity to help!

@Mach-Tony is running 20x8.5 ET+40 Neptune wheels - here's the link to the thread: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...-matte-bronze-rims-and-tires-with-tpms.10828/

Although we do not have member discounts at this time, we do maintain our low price promise for all the tires/wheels we offer and will not be undersold! I'll add that we should be kicking off a Presidents Day deals offer tomorrow. Details are pending however this may be a great time to buy.

Direct Message coming your way.

@outrun I had no issues with that setup. If you want to drive to Sacramento, I can show you how the fitment is on your car. I pretty much have these sitting in storage until I can use them on my Escape PHEV. Here is a good angle to show you that they aren't exactly flush but very close (the front wheels show it better here).

My setup would have been more flush if I went with 255 series tires. Using a 265 series gave me more of that "meaty" look, and also brings additional ride comfort - both I like. However, wider tire contact patch, means more friction to the pavement, which requires more energy to rotate the wheels under power.

I believe there are plenty of options in 255/45 available for tires. When I was looking, most were OOS and I opted for the 265/45 Cross Contact LX25 (with DWS technology).

This goes to show you how bad my memory is. I had 20x8.5 35ET wheels on the front of my Premium that I sold to my friend here in AZ and completely forgot about them. I'm here today and took a few photos for you. Let me know if you want more. The tires are 265/45/20 on those front wheels. I like the tire sidewall to be just about flush with the upper wheel lip moulding and these are about 1/16" in from that. You can just barely see the gap in the first photo. So, if you were to go with narrower tires (255's) or an offset of around 40 instead of 35, they will set in just a bit more.
