Thanks for putting this video together (if you're the creator)

I'm a bit letdown that this, is the much hyped update. That being said its a MAJOR step in the right direction.

I am the "creator" :) -- but it's just a hobby, I'm not quitting my day job to sit in my car and make YouTube videos.

I agree it is a step in the right direction, but it's a very slllllloooooooooow step.

I guess we all have to just remember that, until very recently with the Mach-E, Ford was a company that never updated the software on the car (especially not the infotainment UI!) after the car left the factory gates -- and keep this in perspective that this 100+ year old company is sorta kinda changing?

I hope they hire an icon designer.

100% agree not bad for Ford as we have been getting steady updates for a few months now.
Compare to VW, Audi, Hyundai and other legacy auto companies and Ford looks even better.
Not perfect but they are trying VERY hard at software. 👍🏼

Let's not go there about the software in my wife's early production run VW ID.4

I wonder if FDRS would offer you the newer APIM module version with the camera button
I'm a total newbie regarding these cars so I'll have to research FDRS. Do you have a good reference site for information regarding FDRS. I could Google it but I might as well take advantage of the brain trust here. Thanks.

I currently have two vehicles side by side with the old and new interfaces.
Here is what I’ve observed:
  1. I’ve never had a CarPlay disconnect in the new version.
  2. The new version does seem a bit more responsive. Still not perfect.
  3. Some of the settings have been relocated…not sure why.
  4. One step backwards (IMO) is the reduced size of the cards of minimized apps. I have only one row of radio presets leaving a lot of empty screen that could be displaying the info that used to show on the cards.
Note - My “new” interface is on a 2023 Lightning, not a Mach-E so some differences might not be attributable to simply a software update. I’ve only had it 11 days, so small sample size.

Great description of the changes Andy. Not sure if it’s for me simply because the most useful feature won’t work in my car since Ford wouldn’t take money for the cameras because the metal roof was a more useful thing to me. 🤪🐩

I will probably throw this update into my car at some point but I’m not sure it’s worth the license fee for FDRS just to get the knob-control for seat heat and HVAC. 🤷‍♂️🐩

Do you have OTA updates turned off? It will get to you via OTA... no FDRS required.

Yeah, OTA is active, not that it means anything. My last OTA was in September. I’m pretty low on Ford’s queueing system. 🤪🐩
