First, yes I know there is a setting for the lights to stay on after you turn off and exit the vehicle. Mine was set for 10 seconds, which, without checking, I think is the max time. For the last month or so, I've noticed my lights have been staying on 5-10 minutes after I turn off and exit the vehicle. Yesterday, as a test, I turned off the courtesy light setting so the lights should have gone out immediately, but they again stayed on 5-10 minutes. Has anyone else seen this?

Yup, it's the well-documented headlight switch bug. Manually turn the headlights off. Hopefully we get a TSB with a headlight switch replacement in the next month or so to fix the issue.

You know it is the headlight switch assembly bug if you hear dinging when you open the door (the car is alerting that the headlights are on) and when you look at the headlight switch no LEDs are lighted. Spin the selector switch and then rotate it back to the Auto setting. Until the next time the error occurs, the headlights will shut off as expected.

This can happen sever times in one week, or only once a month. It is strange the error isn't more consistent. It last happened to me about a month ago. Now I bet it will happen today. ?

Rotate headlight knob from auto to off, then back to auto.

Yeah, this bug in the switch is super-inconsistent. Some people see it multiple times a week. Some never see it. I have seen it a few times. ?‍♂?

Thanks for the post I had noticed they were staying on longer but did not think much about it but now that I cycled the switch it is working like it should.

I have to add my thanks for this post as well. I was scratching my head on why, after turning the car "off," the "dinging" sound occurred and the headlights were staying "on" for an extended period. The knob rotation did the trick!

This has been happening to me recently. It seems like it started after the update that included the new SYNC UI. In the two or three times it's happened to me, it's been after remote-starting the car before driving it.

@Ford Motor Company Where is the best place to report bugs like this?

Believe me, they are well aware of the headlight problem. They have been working on it for quite some time now and say the fix will be available "soon"

Same with me. I have seen this 3x since May 22 when I took delivery.
Glad to know it is not just me or was something I did.

Actually, they say the fix will be available in November of 2022. Ford should really stop putting dates on things.

I am in the same boat. I will probably just buy the new part myself and switch it out.

BTW, the hatch button stopped working so I need to take it out and adjust the wire. I must have knocked the wire out of place when I was finishing the pedestrian speaker volume mod.
