If you say so. You're very wrong but hey, why break a pattern? ? ? ?
I guess you have a very, very special Volt that does not depreciate!

Nissan LEAF, Chevy Volt Among Top 10 Cars With Highest Depreciation

"In fact, the LEAF sits at the top of the list with an average five-year depreciation of 71.7 percent. The Chevrolet Volt isn't far behind, as it places in the two-spot, with a depreciation figure of 71.2 percent."

I’d like to see a new version of that 2018 report.

Many of these analyses are simply wrong. For EVs, the depreciation needs to be calculated from the discounted new car price. How much lower is the price from (MSRP - dealer discounts - fed income tax rebate - any state rebates)? I can't imagine anyone will buy a barely used EV or PHEV over that discounted price. The buyer's out of pocket expense is really (MSRP+tax - discounts).

The lower the price of an EV or PHEV, the bigger the effect of these discounts & rebates. For example, a new Nissan Leaf with MSRP of $30,000 can't be worth more than $20,000 when it is barely used as it had federal + state rebates of $10k in California. Is that a 33% depreciation overnight? No. If after 5 years it is worth $10k, it is a depreciation of about $2k/year, not $4k/year.

GM had no history with a serial hybrid but the Volt was built like a tank and very reliable. In some ways the first generation of a totally new technology produces the most reliable copies because the engineers aren't sure of what might go wrong so you have more "belt and suspenders" designs. In later designs they remove the suspenders to save costs.

That doesn't mean the MME won't have issues. All vehicles do. But it helps to have done thousands of model launches rather than literally a handful.
I have a gen 2 Volt. Reliability has been superlative. It's supposed to be more "complex" due to having both an ICE and a motor, yet it does better than pure BEVs.

For reference I had a V6 Lexus that needed to have the engine scraped clean and piston rings replaced.
