yeah i noticed the wiper activated headlamps too.

after some googling, it looks to comply with a possible ca law that will mandate the headlights come on when the car senses rain or the wipers go on to help reduce accidents in bad weather

"Puddle lights" from Ford have been around for a bit. I had them on my 2005 Freestyle SEL.

"Whisper mode". Reminds me of the old '80's program "AirWolf". The helicopter used have "Whisper Mode" when they was doing some stealth approach.

Talking of stealth. So much for scaring unsuspecting pedestrians in the parking lots. Shit.

Headlight activated wipers? Hmmm... I wonder if that is like our Canadian Day Time Running lights? On my Flex, my Fog Lights are my DRLs.

The more I read, the more I want this vehicle.

Forget the milage thing. I posted before my Tesla Roadster was sold
with a 250 milage range and I always got more on a charge.
I got 283 every charge. We can't dwell on milage as Ford will pass
the stated milage. Just what would happen to the dealers if we
got 10% less than stated. Lets enjoy all our posts, be happy, and
make the wait happy. ;)

Thanks for the link, @Sweetwater. So much great info on one page.

One discrepancy from the public Ford web site... The Select is shown with options for SR or ER batteries. I wonder if Ford will be updating the site shortly to show all these extra details and the final options packages.

Further down the page, see the info on the pedestrian alert sounds from 1.2 to 12 mph... That is separate from Whisper mode.
So... I will have to go... creepy creepy... less than 1 mph... and the pedestrian feels a set of eyes on their back.

They turn around {INSERT INTENSE DRAMATIC MUSIC HERE}

There I am looking at them over the hood of my newly polished and waxed Tuxedo Black Mach-E!

MUAH MUAH HAHAHAHAHA

Been there, done that: not in a black car but in my Blue Focus Electric which did not have any pedestrian alert sounds (it was made before that mandate was in place).

Driving through a local subdivision and came upon a group of teens walking down the center of the street completely oblivious to our presence (no they weren't all on their phones, just talking among themselves). Took a few hundred feet before one of them just happened to turn around and notice a Focus silently creeping along behind them--of course they jumped! LOL

Very nice and complete update by Ford on the MaCH e - except they conveniently sidesteped the cost of "supercharging" on-the-road charging. My Tesla costs $0.28 per kWh in CA. If the e-Mustang is over $0.30 per kWh, I walk. Simple as that. I refuse to pay about $60K for an automobile that requires the equivilant of about $8 per gal gasoline. Think about it - it wouldn't take too many years for a Bentely to amortize less expensive than a $60K EV consuming even medium amounts of $0.45 - $0.8 electricity.

Remember in california they are banning the per minute charges for EVs so it will just be the kWh charge. ONe that is not fair to charge EV a per minute base when they don't charge that for gas cars so why should EVs have to pay for that cause then it will cost more for EVs then gas cars.

But recently California has passed a Ban on charging a per minute use on EVs so they should only be getting charged the kWh only by the time we get the Mach-E's.

Here is one of many articles on the matter:

https://www.libertyplugins.com/blog/2019/12/27/california-bans-time-based-billing-for-ev-charging/

California’s Office of Administrative Law has approved amendments to its Electric Vehicle Fueling Systems Specifications. Effective January 1, 2020, the new rules will ban public charging operators from billing by the minute.

As defined in BPC § 13400(a)(4) and (p), electricity is considered a type of motor vehicle fuel. NIST Handbook 44 makes clear what the unit of measure of electricity as motor vehicle fuel dispensed from EVSE shall be measured by – either the kWh or the megajoule (MJ).”

Also all public chargers will need to display all information as well. So they need to display amperage being used, how much being transferred, and I think costs as well. So by the time we get our vehicles everything will be standardized and transparent so no hidden charges. Now for Tesla they have to put in all the displays on their entire charging network infrastructure.

Just for fun I gave it a shot - don't take it too seriously ;)

The cheapest Bentley costs $165,000 and does 17 mpg. Assuming 60k for Mach-E that's $105,000 difference.
Cost of 100 miles in Bentley - $18 (assuming quite optimistic price of $3.1 per gallon of premium)
Cost of 100 miles in Mach-E - $32 (assuming quite pessimistic 400W/m and $0.80 per KWh)

Number of miles to amortize the price difference 750,000
Assuming 20,000 miles a year that's about 37 years.

The world is changing. Gas companies do not like EV cars. It's a money world now.
Whatever Whenever all of us will pay what they want for their product. More EV
cars on the road means higher gas prices. Ohio now in 2020 knows how to make
more money, license plates: ICE= $55.00 Hybrid=$100.00 EV= $200.00 AND in
July no more front plate. Only 1 plate = more money !!

The reason Hybrid and EV plates cost more is you are paying less/nothing in gas tax...which keeps up your roads, bridges, and other driving infrastructure. At least, that's supposed to be the reason (I have no idea how honest your local/state politics are regarding the matter, just that that's going to be the most reasonable explanation).
