I’m glad you asked. I checked parts.ford.com and my order says “Completed”. “Order ready for pickup at dealer.” So, I’ll be giving them a call today.

Update: Dealer said they haven't received it yet.
I reached out to Ford Parts via their chat function and they confirmed that these have indeed started shipping but mine isn’t scheduled to ship “until January”. No explanation why, or when in January ?

Hopefully you have a paid receipt so you can claim the 30% 2020 tax credit.

Anyone have an update on whether Ford has started shipping these yet? My order status is still "Processing"?
Back in October, my dealer sent out a mass e-mail saying these were back ordered until April and I posted a thread about it. At the time, we were unable to confirm from Ford or any other source. Well, Inside EVs did check with Ford and they got the "Everything is on schedule" corporate reply......

Since then, I have spoken with several Ford dealers in town and I am getting the same report.

This past week I met with one of our distributors who supplies EVSE units for our business and he said Webasto units are on back order until the spring. They are the company that makes the EVSE units for Ford. Both the mobile and connected wall unit.

My guess....and it is just a guess, is that Webasto factory fell behind with making the Ford Mobile chargers that ship with the cars and hasn't yet started making the wall units.

Has anyone actually received a Ford Connected Charge Station yet? We were told these things would be available starting in December. Some kind of update beyond “processing” would be nice.

I was just at the dealership this morning for something else but I did ask about this.
Earlier this week he received a memo stating these units would have limited availability beginning in January. He was asked to limit them to customers who are actually receiving cars in January. Same for Feb etc, until supply is more plentiful sometimes in the spring. The memo instructed dealers to delay their own orders so they might be available for those customers who are going to actually have cars delivered.

Hmmm. That’s annoying. My dealer wasn’t listed on the Ford parts website so I had to order from another dealer ?

Just go to https://parts.ford.com

Check the prices. You'll have to pick a dealer before you can shop ... most dealers charge list. Some charge above list. Some charge below list. So you may want to check a few dealers in your area before ordering.

Me either. I plan on using my existing EVSE which is a 32 amp unit so that works for me.

I originally created this thread to make folks aware there may be some delays with delivery of those units. This way they could have time to pursue other vendors before supply dries up. I am already seeing some longer lead times for ChargePoint and some other brands so if you guys feel you really need that 48 amp wall unit then I suggest you consider another brand vs waiting for the Ford Connected Wall unit.

Keep in mind.....it would not be unreasonable to have your electric service run to the location of choice in preparations for a future 48 amp unit. Install a plug that works with the Ford Mobile charger that comes with the car and that will get you covered until the Ford Connected Wall unit becomes available. Then at that point, your electrician can come back out and hard wire it to that same box (removing the receptacle of course....)

That's exactly what I did. I had him put in a 60amp breaker and run 4-wire cable suitable for the 48 amp charger ... and he wired that to a NEMA 14-50 plug ... with the intention of removing that plug and replacing it with a hard-wired charger once I get it.

But I figured I could just use the mobile charger that comes with the car in the meantime.

THEN... I learned I could get a $500 rebate from my local electric utility if I bought a ChargePoint. I ordered it via Amazon.com ($699... but on sale for $649. After the rebate it will be $149, so I couldn't turn that down.) The ChargePoint arrived yesterday and it's already hung (but not yet wired in because the 240v power isn't live in my garage yet.)

And you know about the $1000 federal incentive as well.....correct?

Yes ... and the incentive ends at the end of this year. The tax rule indicates the charger must be installed and "in service" this year.

I started the project in July (thinking ... this will be done in a month, right?) It is *finally* getting completed (all the conduit and wiring is in ... and I'm thinking the inspections should be done by early next week and hopefully they'll cut my house over to the new underground wiring next week.)

Okay. Thanks for that. I wasn't aware the charger has to be installed. I thought it would still apply even if the service for a charger was run. I suppose that isn't really a big deal. Run the service this year and then buy a cheap L2 from Amazon or eBay for $30-$40 so we are able to meet the requirement. Time running out though..2 weeks left.

Are you sure he put in a 60 amp breaker? If so, that's against code with a 14-50 plug since the plug is only rated at 50 amps. You want the breaker to be the first thing that pops (not the outlet).

If he installed 60A capable wire with a 50A breaker for now, that would be okay. And it would be simple to just swap the 50A breaker to a 60A when you're ready to hard wire.
