I would say the only thing I'm a little disappointed in is the range for the GT model. I was hoping to match the Model Y 280 mile range for their performance variant. If I do go ahead with this, I feel like it will be more of a 7 year car than 10 year car, since battery tech will soon catch up and send range numbers higher.

The advantage of this car is primarily the tax incentives. My guess is half of the sales will be in California which will yield a $10K income tax reduction fed+state at the time the income taxes are paid, not at the time off vehicle purchase.

Tesla has already accrued there incentives so Ford will have an advantage there. GM has gone quiet on EV releases since they have accrued their incentives also, but is defiantly developing something, but for now Tesla is Fords strongest competition.

Ford is calling this car a Mustang and I am already hearing denials from the Mustang brotherhood, much like what was heard long ago about the Mustang 2. However Ford manufactures the car and they can call it anything they want.

Tesla has recently done an OTA to their cars that increases performance. This was done to all cars and the difference in acceleration has been measured on the performance Model 3. The 0-60 time has been reduced from 3.5 seconds to just at 3 seconds. The Mach-e likely will not be the quickest car. Not sure about the handling though.

The Chevrolet Bolt has not been mentioned here much but the lower trim versions of the Mach-e will be price competitive and it looks to me to be better car with respect to styling, performance, comfort and space.

Ford has a winner here though maybe not a Tesla fighter.

My guess is the wheels and tires are what's reducing the range on the Mach-e GT. That might be a good thing on a curvy road though. I agree with you about battery tech, lower prices and greater energy densities will be available in seven to ten years. The differences might be extreme by then.

Another thing to keep in mind, if the Mach-E is made available for lease (and am confident it will be as Ford leases everything), the EV tax incentives go directly to the dealer/lessee (not sure which) and reduces the amount of the lease payment.

Oh really? I thought anyone who leased lost out on the tax incentives. I wonder if Ford will offer a lease option through its reservation system.

Yes, that's how it worked on the Chevrolet Volt's. I bought mine out right but many people leased.

If you lease, you do loose out on the incentives. The dealer/lessee gets it.

If you buy, you can apply for the tax incentives when you fill out your taxes for the calendar year you bought it. You can not apply it to the down payment. You could out of pocket and then wait for the refund at tax time.

Sign me up for a Select model but with manual heated seats and steering wheel for MI winters. I do not need a power/memory driver seat/mirrors or power folding mirrors.

Man, I posted on the Mustang6G forum about being excited for the Mach E and got roasted as expected, LOL. Some folks are just waaaay too upset about this.
Some people do not want to accept change. I think that ICE cars will be replaced by the EV over the next 20 years. In 10 years the EV will be a noticeable number of cars and by 20 years the EV may be more cost effective than the ICE cars. A land slide will occur when that happens.

Those people with ICE cars have to put gas in their cars. They put the gas in the gas hole so you could call those people gas holes and they park their ICE cars in parking holes far a way so you could also call them far gone ICE holes.

I was tempted to do the same thing in the mustang subreddit. Also, to ask if when my Mach E came in, I could join their discord server, lol.

The Mach E interior is 10x better than Tesla. Wait till you see the speakers, also the contextual rotary switch embedded INTO the infotainment screen is just brilliant.
That sounds interesting. For the I-Pace, Jaguar struck a perfect balance between screens and physical controls; the HVAC knobs with dynamic displays are particularly slick. I hope the reveal on Sunday provides more insight on interior details (as well as warranty, towing capacity, etc.).

warranty is 3 years/36k miles except for the battery is 8 years/100k miles.

Interior only comes in the black. No leather, either. It’s some type of synthetic stuff. I believe there is a more premium (non leather) material that is perforated and has colored stitching as an option on some trim levels.

Exactly, what is wrong with the controls in current cars, why do EV interiors have to be facetious and overly space-age? Why not just have the Mustang instrument display and IP..?

Lincoln suffers from this stupid focus group ergonomics...
