I have a 2020 Explorer. You can definitely set the adaptive cruise control tolerance. It's not too useful, though, because it's a single value. I like to set it for 9-over on the freeway, which is perfectly fine here in SE Michigan, but 9-over on, say, Hines Drive (a really narrow, long park) seems a bit aggressive.

I tend to adjust the adaptive cruise control speed manually, which is perfectly easy to do.

A percentage would be better than fixed mph.

Agreed, but none of us here write the software for the Mach E. Ford wrote it to use a cardinal value instead of a percentage, so that's what it IS.

I also have a 2020 Explorer ST. I set the cruise tolerance for 5 over. That's what I normally do, if the speed limit is 25 or 70 it doesn't matter, I'll do a max of 5 over with or without the cruise. So I like having the set number instead of a percentage.

The only exception I make is on the freeways in Detroit where the limit is 55 but everyone does 70-80, so I'll do 65 there (10 over).

Well a lot of us on here do write software, just none of us write it for the Mach-E (hmm there could be a forum member or two that does but they haven't said and, frankly, I wouldn't either if I did).

Yes, I'm software engineer too. I meant that none of us in this thread write the Mach E's software, because that is what we're talking about.

The point that I was trying to make is that saying what it "should" do on this forum doesn't change what it does.

Oh I agree, but "snarky" doesn't come across well in text I suppose LOL.

Keep in mind that the tollerance setting only applies when you're using Intelligent Cruise Control. If you're just using Adaptive Cruise Control, you can set your speed to whatever you'd like.

If it's like the Explorer, though, then normal adaptive cruise control will read speed limit signs. You can certainly set your speed manually, but if you count on automatic behavior it's a fixed value.

Sure, it will read speed limit signs, but it won't adjust your speed based on the speed limit unless you have Intelligent Cruse Control turned on. If you just use regular Adaptive Cruise Control, it won't change your set speed based on the speed limit.

That won't keep you from getting a ticket in a speed trap or when a cop is lurking about. Most cases I've seen allow up to maybe 9-10 mph over. Speed cameras in Maryland/DC area are everywhere. I think most allow up to 10 max, but some only 5.

Maybe one of the readers of his post does write the software. Or works down the hall from someone who does.

That’s the beauty of software. It need not remain static. What IS can improve.

Would be easy enough to allow either style of adjustment. Some people like ketchup on their fries. Some like mayo on their frites. Some vinegar. For some it depends on their mood.

My guess is the 4x will get around 235 mi real world range (376 Wh/mi, 235 Km/mi) @ 70 mph, ran dry with air, based of the current EPA 2 cycle numbers and others performance. Pure guess. Start the guessing now, do it quick we should have some info soon. I think this vehicle will work no problem 99% of the time, down to about -10 F (-23 C), which works for me. Hoping new chargers pop up not the ones we have get congested.

235 x 0.7 / 70 mph = 2 hr 20 min (guess)
I got the 4x because of trips like this. It can make the 200 mile distance between Junction TX and Stockton TX. Here's to hoping all of the chargers are working.
