Where I live in winter temperatures rarely go below 40F during the night, and never below 50F during the day. So I may actually benefit from a heat pump. On the other hand, not sure if it's worth waiting for, and whether the new year model will have the same retail price (I would expect prices to continue to drop to due fiercer competition, but one never knows and we got a €9000 discount on this one)
So you got €9000 discount and you’re still 4-5k over the Tesla?

Prices here in Spain:
MY: €46.700.
Stock MY: €41.600 (guess they want to get rid of these before launching the revamped one)
Our Mach-E: €49.000 (Select trim with sunroof, tech pack and grey color as paid extras)

Is the MY the rear drive short range LFP? I assume the MME is std range. If so, they are priced very close to one another.

I recently purchased a MME as well and cancelled a previously ordered Model Y. At least here in the states if you order a RWD Model Y you are looking at January as well.

if you are looking for a Dual Motor version those are more readily available. Not sure about Spain tho.

This story started two weeks ago, somewhere in Europe (Spain to be more precise):

After checking out different EV's (Tesla, Audi, Volvo, Toyota), my wife and I finally decided on the Mach-E. We both loved the design, its features and were nicely surprised by its build quality.

When we did the test drive at the dealership, they told us the expected delivery date was end November / beginning of December.
The day of the signing of the contract (just 5 days later) in all of a sudden a new delivery date popped up: January 10th.
We were told this was based on a misunderstanding between the salesperson and his boss, the beginning of December was never an option.

Quite disappointed by this, they told us this date is just an estimation and usually gets updated a few days after placing the order. With that in mind they offered us to place the order without any upfront payment until a week after, with the option to cancel it without any risk should the date remain unchanged.

A week passed and the date didn't change. Nonetheless, since we both liked the car so much, we decided to go for it. We wire transferred the upfront payment and that's that.

Until a week later, yesterday, we got a call that the delivery date was updated.
However, no reason for cheering, it was actually delayed till February 24th!! We went from end November/beginning December when we first tried the car to February 24th two weeks later. Say what?! The explanation that we got was that the car we reserved (which was already in Europe: Anterp, Belgium) was probably assigned to another dealership as we didn't do the upfront payment (they offered that...). As no more models with our configuration are in stock in Europe, the next available one has to be shipped from Mexico.

Now we are seriously thinking of cancelling the order and going for our second option: the Tesla model Y.
Currently the model Y has a discount on stock models of 5000 euros, lowering the price to 41.000 euros, delivered in 3 weeks, as opposed to the Mach-E which goes for 49.000 euros (select trim, tech pack, sun roof and carbonized grey), to be delivered February 24th.

I know this is not the best place to ask, but what would you guys do?
Don't do it! I had a Y on order when I discovered the mach-e. I have never looked back. Even when I got the stop safely soon warning. Every time I see a Y on the road, the big turtle shell, I am so happy I canceled that order And I had already waited three and a half months for it!) and got my red premium 2021 Mach E almost two years ago. 24,000 miles. I daily get compliments and I daily get a little thrill driving it especially when I get the opportunity for a little longer drive, like 3 hours on the I-15 from where I live to Vegas.

I think you get more for your money with Ford and I personally think better support. Generally Tesla has very few locations if something goes wrong and need someone to physically work on it.

What made you change your mind? Solely delivery date?

Lovely reply. I can perfectly picture you driving with a smile from ear to ear in your MME

True, support was/is one of my concerns with Tesla. However, on the other hand I live in a relatively small city to US standards (1 million people), and to be honest we only have 2 official Ford dealers left (and they both actually belong to the same group). I have serious doubts whether the mechanics are up to speed on the EV thing. I would be very much surprised...

A few reasons. Leasing options was the biggest for me. I did not realize at first you can not buyout a Tesla lease at the end. Without that option it just feels like throwing money away. Leasing works well for writing it off as a business expense for me and how my company is configured and I’ve had lots of luck buying out or trading with equity elsewhere.

The next was style. While the Tesla excels at the software game, it’s a very boring lackluster car to me. Driving it felt fun but the RWD is basically the same as the MME in performance in real life. At least with the RWD model Y. And I drove them back to back. For me the MME is actually a nicer ride, better visibility and I just love how it looks and feels inside. I get a lot of people asking about the car and lots and lots of compliments on the look. In my area everyone has at least 1 Tesla. I’m a creative professional so I like being unique. Funny thing about that tho is I went to a EVGo charge station and there were 3 other MMEs there lol. The most I’ve seen together outside the dealership haha.

lastly even tho the MME has had its issues if you dig around the Tesla forums there are just as many. Andthe story isn’t as nice as the Tesla salesman tell you. In fact 2 of my friends who’ve owned Teslas for over a year or 2 now both have worrying stories about safety problems, waiting on service for several weeks, quality issues etc. So grass is possibly not as green as some make it sound.

Quick update. We decided to stick with our Mach-E order. However, we switched colors from gray to Space white with an estimated delivery date 2 months earlier than the gray one.

Today I had an appointment at Tesla to test drive the new model 3.
I went for a 45min drive and I must say that I really liked it. Nice steering and acceleration, good noise insulation, as well as pretty decent build quality on the inside.
Oh, and I absolutely loved the ventilated seats, really neat!

However, the car is smaller than my current VW Passat and the trunk is too small for a family of 4. While driving I had the feeling as if I was driving a car that was squeezed at the sides. Would have liked it to be a bit wider.

After driving the new model 3, I hopped into the Model Y again, and build quality is just not the same. The door closing sound, the materials, I don't know...it just seems/feels cheap(er).

I like the Mach-E exterior and interior much more. It's a really good looking car with decent build quality.

Having acknowledged both the good and the bad feedback from you guys regarding the Mach-E, I must admit I do fear a bit getting frustrated by software, fordpass, paak and what have you issues.

However, hopefully things aren't as bad and software improves over time.

By the way, does anyone have an idea which software version this one will be shipped with (and BC version)? I don't know what the build date was just yet, but I'm guessing some 4 months ago. Mind you that I'm in Europe (not sure whether baked in software is the same as in the US).

I own neither a Tesla nor Mach. I did consider them both.

Here's the rub. Tesla quality varies by plant. So...I will assume good quality from European plant.

The Mach has nicer interior materials. In general, its a higher quality product regarding touchpoints.

The Tesla has a superior batterypack and motors. It has a higher top speed, more efficiency, faster charging, and we know they hold up well. We also have a pretty well established life cycle understanding of them, by now.

The software in the Tesla is superior. The gauges and interface (no going through menus just for wipers...) on the Mach is superior.

I chose to go EV6 to split the difference. If it were not an option, a VERY WELL inspected Tesla likely would have been my choice. The top end and power limits of the Mach GT really just rub me wrong.

I am almost in tne same situation as you and LOT of others buyers in Europe (France here)
We all ordered around june/october and were all told for a delivery early/late december

We have no more information, some already have their VIN, others don't, some knows that their mach-e is in Antwerp (Belgium) but still no more
Anyway, all waiting....

For the PaaK you still have the backup door/start codes so I see no issue with these

And for the update, in Europe Ford was a bit late, most mach-e still were running 4.x at some point, and only recently some had updates 5.x and 6.x, so we mayget a mach-e delivered with something like 4.x

very good prices in Spain. In Latvia all these models are much more expensive. I suppose you have some support from government as a tax discount. We have nothing.
ps. I would wait for mach-e. :)

you can see prices in Latvia https://ford.inchcape.lv/stock-locator/?model=mustang_mach_e
