As I understand it, production of the Mustang Mach-E in 2020 is Limited to 50.000 because of battery supply, meaning that Ford expect to be able to have enough batteries coming in for such an amount of cars. Keep in mind also that Ford will need to sell plenty of this car in Europe this calendar year to avoid huge emission fines.
My understanding was the 50k limit was for the 2021 MODEL year (all trims) not calendar year.

So if Ford makes 50,000 units in 2020. Which would account for the FE and Premium trims. How many Mach-E's do you think they'll make in early 2021 for the Select, CA RouteOne and in the spring/summer of 2021 for the GT models?

Ford plans to build 50,000 Mustang Mach-Es globally in the first full year of production. This news comes from L.A. where Detroit News reporter Ian Thibodeau tweeted that Joe Hinrichs made this statement. Hinrichs is Ford’s president of automotive, and he said production wouldn’t be any higher than this due to limited battery availability.

The real question is when the one-year clock starts. With GTs starting to come out " Spring 2021", I'm guessing their year is 3rd quarter 2020 - 3rd quarter 2021. That's really the only way they can hit their European targets. Starting full production in 4th quarter (October) would be too tight.

I believe I read that production would begin June 20th. I imagine that the first batch will be dealership testers which is why consumers won’t start seeing deliveries until September/October time frame

Auto manufacturer model years usually turn over in Fall each year. October is probably about average. The newly designed 2020 Ford Escape, for instance, had a Fall release.

That coincides quite well with the Mach-e too. They're talking a Fall release (if all goes well with production) for the first ones to hit dealerships.

I'm a little skeptical of that June 20 date, simply because it's precisely the first day of summer. It's also suspiciously exact (I don't think Ford would really give a date that exact half a year in advance).

My guess is that Ford said "summer" and the reporter took the (optimistic) licence of reporting that as the first day of summer.
