Loving it!
First because they're a trusted voice and opinion to me when it comes to cars/ev's.
Second is because they gave them haters something hard to swallow ?
Yeah I suspect they had a spot on the mantle all ready for that award with "Model Y" inscribed on it. ?

To me this keeps me even more enthusiastic and looking forward to get mine. When Edmunds made the first preview about a year ago I had a kind of feeling that he was very very sceptical about the MME.
Seeing him now, building his opinion while driving it, makes it even better.

I suspect there’s a Tesla fanboy YouTube “influencer” who’s already awarded the model Y “Luxury electric car of the millennium” ?

Tesla fans: Woohoo! Yes! The Model 3 won EV Car of the year from Edmunds, they are the experts and they know how good the Model 3 is!

Also Tesla fans: The Mach-E beat the Model Y for Luxury EV of the Year???? Edmunds is clueless. They are just biased because of advertising dollars and Tesla doesn't advertise.

Edmunds is fully aware of the loud Teslastan voices. Otherwise, I think they would have omitted several (well deserved) digs at Tesla from the full length awards video.

Hey everyone! I’m a sales consultant at a Ford dealership in Wisconsin and the hype around the Mach E has been astounding! I’ve had a lot of customers call regarding when we’re getting out dealership’s Mach Es. Can’t wait to get behind the wheel of one of these puppies!

So.... when are you getting a Mach-E at the dealership? :)

Exactly, and like you I was hoping and expecting Ford not to be baited into chasing specs just for the sake of chasing specs. They took a more holistic approach to the design and engineering and I think that’s paid off.
They also took a conservative approach and left a lot on the table in terms of battery buffer, which will allow for future improvements.
Frankly, I think Ford was still a little bit too focused on specs, like 0-60. 4.8 seconds is overkill territory for my tastes. 6 would have been fine, if it meant gearing it for more extra range (not sure if it works quite that way though). And save the hyperspeed for the GT version.

But I also get that it's a Mustang, so they probably felt they had to focus heavy on speed to live up to the Mustang name. I'm OK with that, although I do wonder how much extra range might have been had otherwise.

I think your range will be good as long as you aren't testing the 0-60 in 4.8 seconds every time you start from a stop.

Luxury EV defined as MSRP over $40k. Isn't that like 95% of them?
Yes, except for the econoboxes (leaf, bolt, hyundai/kia EVs). This is what is still holding EVs back....you have to spend $45000 so you don't feel like you are in a penalty box.

I have always found the build quality of the Bolt to be extremely good, better than your typical econobox and actually better than my Camry in many ways. The material selection for dash and seats are the only things I wish they’d done differently but they chose materials that matched the price point at the time. Even then they thought enough to offer heated rear seats setting it apart. Maybe not luxury, but more than a compliant penalty box. GM took a loss on every one sold, but they definitely changed the conversation as has every EV to date.

Oh sure, but I suspect it could have been even more with lower differential gearing. Low end torque would have suffered some but seems like it might have produced more efficient high speed cruising (thus more highway range).
