It's a low production car and there really aren't that many good options for electric vehicles, particularly performance oriented and/or non-Tesla ones, in the US. It will sell out.
100% of the 2021 model MME’s are via special order, both in North America and the EU. There is also a rather limited supply. So if people want to pick a car off the lot, they’re not going to have the opportunity this year except in the rare instances where an ordered Mach-e was delivered to the dealer for a customer who changed their mind and refuses delivery. While everyone has the ability to refuse the vehicle, not many will do so.

The other option is to buy one of the FCTP (demo) vehicles when those become available. Keep in mind that not all Ford dealers can sell the MME, and of those that can, not all ordered an FCTP vehicle. That further limits supply.

The result of both these limited additional vehicles will likely be significant ADM.

Demand far exceeds the originally slated allocation for North America. While I understand the reluctance to order a vehicle someone can’t see or drive, the alternative is to wait until 2022 or beyond.
There’sa big difference between an echo chamber and the information we have from Ford and Ford insiders. I realize you just got here yesterday but there’s a wealth of information in this forum that goes into what we are telling you
1) Ford said they were only producing 50,000 in MY 2021 and more than half go to the EU/UK. For may be able to exceed 50k but battery supply will limit them.
2) Inside information from Ford provided her shows demand far in excess of 50K cars.
3) Dealers are only allowed to order one FCTP (demo) car. Some dealers may be able to acquire an additional one.
4) Some orders placed in September are being given late February build dates. Many on this forum don’t even have build dates yet.

Do you really believe Ford is going to have dealer stock on the lots months before they fulfill long-standing orders?
One more thing to keep in mind - Except in a few geographic locations (say like in L.A or Bay area etc) most dealers only have few customer orders placed (with no dealer stock available yet). So most likely most dealers will not even have much options like a canceled order. With most of dealers getting only one FCTP vehicle - that is about like 2000 ish FCTP vehicles available for sale in the USA after a few months and say at most another 1000 or so canceled orders. That is not a lot of inventory for MY2021.

Better to place the order and at least the process begins and one can always decide against it if they dont like it.
Thanks for the info, guys.
So would you then say the best way to avoid possible dealer markup is to just order? Would most of you with preorders say you’re protected against markup? It’d be pretty crappy of a dealer to try anything like that.

The Mustang Mach-E made it in the top luxury EV according to Edmund's ?

Yeah, it seems like Edmunds and Motor Trend REALLY like the MME (in addition to all the other glowing reviews). I wonder how long Edmunds had their before naming it their top luxury EV.

If you're able to use Ford's X-plan discount then the dealer CANNOT mark up the car. The discount itself isn't very large on the Mach E, but it locks in what the dealer can charge. Not all dealers participate, so check with them first in writing. To be eligible you need to be a member of the Mustang Club of America for at least 2 months, work for a company that qualifies, or own 100+ shares of Ford stock for 6 months.

Even without the X-plan, you can check with the dealer and get in writing if they are adding markup.

Check the “No ADM Dealer” thread:
https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/official-list-no-adm-mach-e-ford-dealers.95/

Also check with your local dealers and simply avoid ones who routinely do ADM. Also check for dealers who accept xplan. Xplan will give you small discount and doesn’t allow ADM. You’ll need to be in a qualifying organization, company etc. The easiest way is to simply join the Mustang Club of America.

As others said, check with your preferred dealers for details in writing. But make sure you do that first, before you place the order.

Also, read and understand the order FAQ and terms and conditions before you submit the order. Some people glossed over the part where it says the order deposit might not be refundable should you back out. If you care about this aspect, and you're dealer says it is refundable, in writing to you, then you should be good to go.

Bought some F a few months back, up 26% last I checked.

LOL. That is why I originally signed up for this forum, Following this forum, the F-150 forums, and the Bronco forum gives me a sense of the demand.

And there is lots of demand! As long as Ford executes, selling 2021 vehicles is not going to be a problem (recall the 2020 Explorer rollout). I think (and hope) that Ford learned a lesson, and that is why the 2021 rollouts are being slowed. And Covid 19 is not helpful.

That being said, if you read my small review in Post #63, I now have a second reason for being on this forum. Keeping my wife informed about the availability status of the Mach-E. Oh, well.

So the bad news may be that she won't see an available Mach-E for quite a while.

If true, then the good news will be that Ford can't keep up with the demand.:)

If you want a Mach E, I'd order ASAP. You can still look for vehicles early next year at local dealers, and if you get lucky and find one, you can cancel your order. Most dealers aren't marking up above MSRP, a few are, but I wouldn't worry about that issue.

I agree that finding one is going to be difficult, but it's worth a look, for sure.

someone created a whole new thread on this over here
Consumer Reports First Take on the Mach-E | Ford Mustang Mach-E Forum - MachEforum.com

we seem to basically have the "put all the reviews here" thread, a pair of different "put all the reviews [video and text] here", and a bunch of "here's a review" threads. good luck, new people!

We’d been talking about a hybrid or bev and when our 2013 Edge Sport smoked it’s transmission at 75K, the delay in repair, cost of repair got us thinking about a replacement. The dealer had a MME Select on the lot for 10 days. We test drove it and S.O. was hooked so why not? I commute 90 miles a day RT and charging overnight on 240V does it. 1st impressions (I drive a EB Flex, and it is sweet).

Bouncy ride on rough roads , good to very good fit and finish, small and big displays work well together, PAAK buggy till update but basically works better than I’d expected, quiet interior, one pedal nice, comfortable, like the rear hatch, no opinion on frunk, launches quickly, good commuter, tracks very well, if I squint my eyes, with gray/body colored wheels it looks like a spec military scout vehicle that needs a desert out back and more aggressive tires LOL.

We will maintain a running list of Mustang Mach-E reviews and impressions here.

Ride-along reports:

Wish my Mach E had these features.

The electric Ford F-150 Lightning's front trunk offers loads of extra storage space and four power outlets. Plus, it can double as a cooler.

What you feel as a kick back in the seat is the torque, not the actual time. With 612 lb-ft of torque instantly (without depending on RPM) the acceleration of the GT will kick you back in the seat like no other mustang before. The 2020 GT500 in comparison has 625 lb-ft of torque, but needs to be above 3000 RPM for that.
Actually the kick in the back is a consequence of Newton's first law of movement -an object continues to maintain its state of rest or motion unless or until it is acted upon by an external force. The Mach E is the one applying the external force to your back and naturally that force is a consequence of the torque provided by the motor.
