Unlike their last video, I actually enjoyed that one. Very positive overall, especially considering where it comes from. Surprised at the screen lag, I have not really seen that anywhere. And I cannot believe they have not fixed that camera glitch from the pre-production models. Hopefully the customer ones do not have that issue.

+1

I'll give Ford the benefit of the doubt that this was a pre-production quirk, but I'm not going to be happy if it's that bad at delivery.

I hate that they were comparing a MYP to a standard range MachE. I know they caveated their review, yet their review centered around the differences between the two. Their take on performance basically being underwhelming would not have been so drastic had they had been driving a 4xEXT MachE. At least they highlighted the difference in quality but the message was flawed because of the almost base MachE they had on hand.

Also, the first video I've seen where Sync4a performance was absolutely abysmal. What's up with the awful delay?

yeah kinda sucks they didn't get the 270 range mache. And his points about take-off, well yeah it's not the same so wh bring it up. It's an older pre-production mache So things are not perfect in it.

I see MY Performance is rated at 3.5 seconds 0-60, so almost 2 seconds quicker than MME4; still almost 1.5 seconds quicker than MME4X. Only fair comparison would have been to GT, which looks to have the same 0-60 time.

If you compare these two cars on all specifications alone, not just acceleration, the Model Y is the winner. However, the Mach-e interior and functionality is more intuitive and convenient than the Model Y.

The Model Y has a heat pump which is very compelling for conservation of range in moderately cold weather. This would serve everyone at least part of the time and some of the people all of the time.

Ford will presumably have better fit and finish and fewer reliability issues but it remains to be seen.

Mach-e has a price advantage due to federal tax credit, but this may be short lived as there is interest by the next administration to level the playing field for early US EV manufacturers that have accrued all their tax credits. This is a big issue, but I think any EV tax legislation will take a year at least to be realized if at all.

The mach-e I sat in at the roadshow event have a similar clunky response, I was informed this was due to the pre production nature of the system so I will have to take fords word for it that the final one will better, having got sync2 and sync3 in the ST & RS neither are great with 2 being woefully slow with sync3 at least being more usable. One advantage of OTA updates can at least mean that the system over time can be tweaked to at least perform better if the final system is a step above sync3 it should at least suffice.

At the price point of a premium a faster system should really be the order of the day IMO, however we are talking mainstream ford so I am a bit more forgiving as no doubt the bean counters will mean that the same base hardware is going to be used across a range of models with different price points

Of interest will be the follow up review to see how the range and charging is impacted by the cold weather so should give a good worse case example.

All the Efficiency and Range in the world aren't enough to make up for a poorly built or designed car. Wasn't the Yugo efficient?

Luxury/performance cars aren't efficient, they are quality.

Not going to lie I spend hours a day fighting the good fight for Ford in YouTube comments. So much disinformation by the Tesla Mafia being spread.

The one thing that gets me about range is that Tesla used a rated range calculator. What that means is that when a Tesla's battery is full, the car says it has the full EPA range. For example, the AWD ER MME would show 270 mi at 100% battery. That means in conditions like in the video (mid 20s F, wet roads, etc) 1 real world mile takes more than 1 mile off the range prediction. That 270 mi would tick down much faster than you were driving.

I'd much rather have the actual mileage of the car displayed. Yes, I know Tesla can also show real world range, but it's a bit buried. But it seems people are more than happy to use Ford's (and honestly every BEV manufacturer other than Tesla) transparency against them.

EPA ranges mean everything to these people. Look at Porsche. Massacred for their 203 mi range, yet the car got 280ish in the 70 mph test. Didn't matter. EPA was 200 and some people immediately called it a failure. There's just no use in arguing with the internet.

Absolutely agree with you.
It seems that some people just try to use everything they can against cars that are not branded as Tesla.
What they don't tell is, that they totally ignore the different approach that Ford made with the predicted range.
Ford could have gone easily with just showing the EPA range when the battery is at 100% SOC.
But they did good with being that honest in a way that with different weather conditions and routes their customers will face different ranges. In a Tesla as well.
But they just do a Screenshot at 100% SOC an "claim" that the MY has a better range without taking weather, route etc into account.
I'm sick of this apples to oranges comparisons.
Also that they always come up with their top notch performance versions of their cars like the MY Performance.
If this is their only way to make the MME look bad, than even more congrats to Ford, because the haters or fanboys seem to run out of arguments against the MME.
