Good looking car, I don't think I would enjoy seeing NASCAR race it but, I will keep an open mind.

25 miles per charge. Going to make for a looooonnnngggg Daytona 500.
It has a 78-kWh battery. What makes you think it will only go 25 miles per charge?

David Ragan, who owns an MME andis pretty much Ford's Cup test driver, said that the car was fun to drive. He said that the shake-down at Texas Motor Speedway went well and last weekend's test laps at Chicago went well. One of the things he said was a little weird was hearing the marbles being picked up and slammed into the body work. You don't really hear them with an ICE car since they're so loud but you can hear that racket over the sound of the electric motors. Ragan further said that the brakes on the car are phenomenal and that the torque split between the front and rear axles is tunable. He said he'd love to take part in a multi-car test with 6-8 of these at a road course or a short track. He also noted that this is a design exercise and not necessarily aimed at replacing the current Cup car or even for a separate EV series in the near term. ??

NASCAR is getting so far from its roots that one day they will wake up to empty bleachers….easy shifters, independent rear suspension that breaks when you look at it, ecu fuel supply….whats next eco boost engines and cruise control? I have watched e-formula racing and it has its place, but for the Deep South just can’t see it happening…certain coloured states dont want or like EVs….IMO

From Racing America.com:
... the car was able to go roughly 50 laps on a charge around the 0.526-mile paperclip.
Thanks for the reference info. I hadn't seen that.
They definitely need to focus on efficiency and charging performance.
One thing I really dislike about Formula E is the lack of fueling pit stops. Or at least elimination heats with scheduled recharging.

Honestly, for a transition to EV, I'd love to see them return to racing factory vehicles. Of course safety expectations today aren't like they were in the '60s, so it's probably not feasible.
I love that factory vehicles compete at Pikes Peak.

From Racing America.com:

"In a recent test at Martinsville Speedway, David Ragan, who has been the test driver of the vehicle, said the car was able to go roughly 50 laps on a charge around the 0.526-mile paperclip. Ragan states that due to the location of the battery pack, which is on the right side floorboard, the weight ratio of the ABB NASCAR EV Prototype is very similar to the current NASCAR Next Gen race car."

50 x 0.526 = 26.3 miles.
I’ll bet it’s marathon time is better than mine ?

This and a couple of others types of racing are for R&D. Go as fast as you can for as long as you can and balance the 2. I think we can all say EV tech is quick and fun to drive. Lets see it get a whole lot better. Time moves on.
