Nice value. But still too ugly for my taste.

You may have missed the Texas one but still have the federal ($7500) which is a big bonus.

That's a pretty compelling price for the SR RWD Y. Still think they'd have an even more compelling product if they brought back the LR RWD - the extra range beyond the 326 they're currently at would make for a compelling mid-price option between the SR RWD and the LR AWD.

Breaking those high ticket options (AWD & Extended Battery) out makes it better for the consumers to pick and choose what best suits each of us. I am so glad Mach-E gives us those options. If Ford only sold First Edition trims at $60k...no way wife boss would approve that PO.

I suspect they're doing it the way they're doing it because the mid-trims are the ones easiest to get people to compromise on. Price conscious will go SR RWD, range conscious will take the AWD to get the LR, and those who *have* to have AWD but can't afford the Y LR AWD will go for the 3 LR AWD at an in-between price.

But it's hard for the customers who want it their way.

That is just 4k difference between the premium sr and MY sr.

The tesla have slightly better range and 0.5 sec faster acceleration and more space, but its also might spontaneously shatter its windows.

I feel like this model will take a lot of business from MME.

Ford might need to lower price even more to differentiate.

Also the MY lease with 4.5k down is only $420 a month, or roughly half of MME lease that is closer to 700-800

Yup, exactly! That plus the better Tesla charging network, 7 seat option, rear seat warmers and then also adding heated steering wheels are making it MUCH more interesting despite the fact that I'm not a fan of the MY's lack of front display and the outer design. Definitely curious to see how Ford responds.

I wish Tesla would game the system more. In Quebec you get the state incentive only if the MSRP is under 60k (which the MME is). Doesn’t matter if you put 20k in option after as long as the MSRP is under that amount. If the model Y standard range would let me put as an option the AWD and the bigger battery I would probably have a harder time deciding. For now I’ll stick with the cheapest option!

Has anyone seen the 7th seat? The elctrek article shows some picture form Dec 2019 where there is ZERO legroom (literally). Are they really going to be usable 7 seats?
Let's hope they show at least a picture before asking customers to plunk down $3000 for some seats in the back.
If someone really needs 7 comfortable seats and a plug-in, Chrysler Pacifica plug-in is a much better option.

I also doubt the better charging network. Over here in California, due to the high number of Teslas and probably cheaper supercharger rates, supercharger wait times are a big concern for many. If I have to wait good 40-50 minutes, it makes the charge rate much less relevant.

...But at least those chargers work and provide the promised charging rates ?. Based on the reviews so far for charging with the Mach E, it sounds considerably slower ... and with more EV manufacturers creating additional offerings it may not be that much longer before we start seeing those same wait times for non Tesla chargers as well.

Slow or non functional charging + increasing demand = red flags

And I definitely agree that those 2 back seats in the MY will probably be super tiny and more for children like the Model S seats. Trying to see when Tesla will have some available for a test drive with our local Tesla store. There have been some photos of the seats folded down but not much else. I assume we'll see more in 6 weeks once deliveries are made for folks ordering the 7 seaters now.

Have you seen the TFL video where the MY charged below 70kw?

(Now I think that video was a bad showing for both of those cars. The batteries were cold. And I'm not convinced they had a MME that had plug and charge activated.)

These will be kids-only seats. We had a 91 Taurus wagon with a flip-up, backwards-facing rear seat row. It was fine for 2 kids but nothing else.
That’s clearly the target here. Families with kids tend to be very p price-conscious.

Just look at a map. There's no comparison - the Tesla network is better, can get to WV, MT, SD, WY, etc. with it, just to name a few states that lack a single high power CCS station.

I just can't even IMAGINE how you fit a 3rd row in that car. I don't know if even very limber kids could get back there. The price though for the SR, looks like Tesla is running from the Mach E, and throwing down the gauntlet.

Yup, saw that, but it was still almost double the rate that the Mach E was getting (once it was eventually able to charge).

The MY claims to have sliding rear seats and some "easy entry" for the 3rd row seats. Maybe just for Cirque du Soleil members though ? Super curious to see what that consists of.
