So I have been getting periodic LV Battery warnings for several weeks now. I have a early 2021 and the battery is probably about shot. It seems that every supplier is saying that the OEM replacement batteries are Back Ordered with no delivery in sight. Has anyone found a replacement in another brand. I am having a hard time finding a 35amp AGM with pol

This is useful information. How can it be made into a sticky thread?

I actually ordered the second die hard battery. The Bosch was tempting but it is not an AGM battery and the battery is obviously from a large country overseas.

My dealer had in stock. Was getting periodic low battery on ford pass and bc 1.3 is stuck and not installing. Went in for 10k checkup (29.95) and asked them to look at battery. Got a new one under warranty after 27 months of ownership. They also found kink in hose to rear spray.
They installed yesterday and I picked up today.

I just replaced mine yesterday. Car just turned 3 years old and that's when I replace LVB's. My dealer had it in stock (Sonora Ford). Three weeks ago I replaced one in my previous Mach-E (Premium) at my friends in Arizona. That dealer had several in stock (Surprise Ford).

question:

when replacing 12V battery did you remove the frunk first?

someone just alerted me they had a “just slide it out” simpler method once used by a Ford Mobile Service tech on their MME.

I don't see how you can "just slide it out" without with the frunk tub in place. On both cars, I removed the frunk tub. I'd be surprised if it took more than 3 minutes (probably have removed it at least 10 times or more for other projects/mods). I removed the battery on both cars prior to purchasing the new one so I could give the dealer the core and not have to go back.

Edit: There is a thread here (https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...cing-12v-battery-new-to-me.38020/#post-835833) showing how the battery can be removed by "sliding it out" however it is not that easy for me since I must remove the strut bar completely because mine has three bolts on each side. Not to mention it is more difficult and time consuming to do it that way than removing the frunk tub: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0c5p3ichEIQlg

I also plan to be proactive and replace my LVB at the 3 year mark. It may last longer, but I'd like to avoid any unnecessary complications of a dead/dying battery.

Although I only took possession of my Mach-E in March of this year, the car was built in June of '23 so I'm using that date as the 3 yr timer start.

Most interesting. Does it meet the charging algorithms that Ford uses?
If you can believe OHMMU, yes.
At the 40 minute mark in this install video, from a menu of many choices the installer configures this battery for the MME.

Also on the product page from their website:

"• Proprietary 12V Lithium cell and BMS technology that is a drop-in replacement to your existing battery (no firmware changes needed)"

I think not.

See prior thread, “Ohmmu 12v lithium Anyone purchased or have experience with this battery?

also cites to Mach-Lee’s “12V Battery FAQS” tutorial, specifically see,

“Can I replace the AGM battery with a lithium or LFP battery?

No, bad idea. 12V lithium batteries operate at a different voltage setpoint than 12V AGM batteries. The charging and BMS system of the Mach-E is calibrated for AGM chemistry only. If you put in a lithium battery, the BMS will not measure the state of charge % correctly, and the lithium battery may not be charged fully due to the lower voltage setpoint of AGM. For example, while driving the voltage is normally held around 12.9V, this will perfectly maintain an AGM at 100%, but a lithium battery will only be held at 20% SoC. This means a lithium battery will gradually discharge while driving to 20%. Load shed will activate, causing your radio, HVAC, and accessories to shut down while driving.”

There's also this Lithium Iron Phosphate alternative LVB from OHMMU.
https://www.ohmmu.com/product-page/12v-lithium-battery-for-ford-mustang-mach-e
Claimed longer life, less weight, and comes with an App for direct monitoring.
Originally designed for Tesla. Now a drop-in replacement for MME.

Has anyone on the Forum tried this?
Do not use the OHMMU battery. It is not compatible with the car’s BMS which expects a AGM chemistry. You will have major issues with modules shutting down. It doesn’t matter what settings you do on the battery side, that’s doesn’t change the chemistry and voltage curve characteristics.
