Another Unresponsive '23

I'm sitting here waiting for a tow company to try and open my 23 GT. The key fobs don't work. The App doesn't work. The key pad on the door doesn't work.

My 14 month old son's car seat and stroller are stuck in the car.

I drive the car every day, I keep it at 90% on a L2 charger at home, and I drove it 3 hours before this happened. It's been plugged in most of the morning. If I unplug and replug the light ring turns red, which maybe indicates some sort of battery issue?

I can guess that the car lost connectivity about 2 hours before this happened since the estimated charge completion shows an ETA that lines up with that.

I've tried everything to get in and it's so frustrating to feel trapped, knowing things my son needs are stuck in a car that likely won't even be opened today.

The car was just in the shop for over a week to get 19 modules updated less than a month ago and I hope I don't have to wait that long to get his seat back.

It just doesn't make sense that this is a common issue. Why couldn't there just not be a key hole ...

Did you try to get the frunk open with the wires in the bumper. If they open, it means dead 12v.

Thanks, I haven't tried yet, but I'm looking up how to do that. I know it's utilizing that port on the front, but nothing beyond that.

Unfortunately I don't have an external powersource to connect to the leads atm.

For now I'll have to wait for Ford's roadside assistance and see what they're able to do.

Ok just worried about the 5+ business day lead time at my dealership to look at Mach Es.

Two wires come out. Connect it to a 12v power supply and it will pop the frunk open. That will work only when the 12v battery is dead.

If they can open and you’re the type that change your own batteries, then you are set and no need to actually tow it.

With all of this happening, there should be a class action lawsuit on Ford to provide a mechanical way to open one of the doors when the battery is dead. What if a lifesaving thing is stuck in the car. Or I shut the front door to get my kid out of the backseat and it won’t open anymore.

I have an inhaler in the car. Some have epipens. The ambulance will likely not get there fast enough.

Thanks man, I did look it up and it's definitely something I can do.

The lock smith came from Ford roadside. It took a few attempts but He was able to pry the door open with his airbags. From there we were able to open the other 4 and get my stuff out.

We tried the Frunk 12v process between his attempts and it didn't open. Once we got the driver's side open and popped the Frunk, I removed the cladding and he hooked it up to a jumper box. It still had 12.8v. I tried starting it a few times with different both key fobs present, but all I got was some internal clicking.

For now, I got my stuff, the car is still plugged in, but it seems like it's stuck in the unlocked state. The DRLs are on and you can open the car freely.

Didn't see like the battery is going to resolve this, but if this seems familiar to you guys, I'm definitely open to suggestions. Otherwise I'll try the dealership tomorrow morning and see what's up.

Did you try disconnecting the 12V battery negative lead for 5 minutes or so and then reconnecting.?

Couldn't agree more. I know it's all about the clean, futuristic look, but it seems terribly irresponsible to design a vehicle without a mechanical way to access the interior when a dead battery of software glitch renders the door actuators inoperable. Why not physical door handles that recess into the door like what other manufacturers use? I know keyholes are ugly and not 'cool', but integrating them would save a lot of people major headaches.

They don’t have to be ugly. The keyhole in the EV9 is completely hidden. Hopefully, Ford has learned their lesson with the MME and won’t make the same mistake again.

Could also of just had a keyhole for the trunk that wouldn’t be visible….having to crawl through the trunk is more reasonable than no solution.
