Currently a Spark EV is about the max budget. Maybe an E-bike.

Dear Ford, How about launching a new model called the Bustang Bike-E for those longer trips on public transport?

That would just cause the "not a Bustang" crowd to come out of the woodwork. ;)

I'm definitely a pre-planner, too. I started looking for destination charging for some potential trips and it is ridiculously hard. Sometimes, "destination charger" means they have a 240V outlet that may or may not be blocked by an ICE vehicle. I was hoping to plan out some visits to National Parks for the summer since I have a free National Parks Pass. I think it is doable, but I am going to have anxious moments for sure.
Most of my long road trips are out to the various national parks, using the online route planers for now means I will be sticking to ICE for those trips as I'd rather spend my time at the park rather than the at the charges getting there :).

However over the years I have seen various teslas driving around some of parks as there a few chargers located around at or near some of the parks, but I would assume the numbers are low so it is certainly possible but a lot of that will depend where you stay and the numbers of fellow ev owners that venture into the parks at the same time. So it will either go smoothly or be a nightmare either way it will probably give you plenty of interesting vlog footage :)

Some are doable. Like it is fairly easy for me to get to Arches. And a couple of the hotels have destination chargers. Great Sand Dunes might be a bit trickier. Either way, it will make for an "experience" and a good video -- I hope! LOL

National Parks are a logical place to put DC Fast Chargers, I believe Rivian has expressed a plan to do so to support their "Adventure" EVs.

There's a CCS fast charger in town in Moab too.

National Parks are a logical place to put Level-2 chargers too: People spend a lot more time there than 30 minutes.

In addition: They aren't going to want to stop their visit to run out to the car to move it when it hits 80%.

We had a rented Bolt at Muir Woods--there were two Level-2's there. Plugged in and charged while we walked about.

There are also some Level-2 chargers at the San Francisco Giants ballpark: Completely filled up the rental Bolt by the time the game ended.

In the park, sure people spend lots of time, hiking, camping, etc, but I was thinking that since a lot of places in the parks have no/limited electricity (trailheads, etc.) outside the visitors center, that it could make sense to put DCFCs at visitors centers, where people generally don't stay that long.

Any campsite with a NEMA 14-50 is already the equivalent of a Level 2, luckily there are RV parks with them near parks often.

I'm generally of the opinion that Level 2 outside of residential, workplaces, or hotels don't make a whole lot of sense, but that's just me.

Yeah. RV parks are a great place to camp when you've got an EV - charged by morning, and cheaper than a hotel too. There's a part of me that wants a BEV Bronco with that roof tent someday for EV national parks and then sleep at RV parks adventures.

If I could get this in a BEV, I'd upgrade from the Mach-E early :D
