I love my Mach E but one of the very annoying features is that you can’t access the keyboard to type something while moving. I get the idea for safety, but I feel like if anything it makes it more unsafe since you will probably have pick up your phone to type what you need. If you need to search something in navigation while you are moving, you can’t do that. If you’re on a call while moving and need to enter a number, you can’t. It is incredibly annoying and I think Ford needs to change this.

“Navigate to…” works great. Otherwise, I have never really pushed it. ?‍♂?

That doesn’t help when you are on a call and need to press “1” to speak to the service department. ?
With an iPhone I can tap the phone to turn on the screen and then tap 1. That’s not the same as typing on a keyboard.

Almost every modern car I have driven won't let you type stuff while driving. I just turned in an Audi A3 rental car which requires a full stop before doing almost anything on the electronic display

There is enough distracted driving on the roads today. Ford doesn't need to make it worse. Personally, I'm glad people can't type while driving

Best solution would be a voice command to press x. Possibly there is such a thing?

Voice activation is a great option. I use it for the HVAC etc

Please dont pick up your phone, my young kids are out on bikes in the neighborhood, dont need you running them over. Thank you.

When I have stuff to do I actually pull over, wild concept.

I think...the problem is not with the vehicle or cell phones but with the telephone system prompt algorithm that requires a physical button press. I've complained about this for a couple decades to various companies. No reason the telephone system algorithm needs to require a physical button press - which simply generates a specific tone. It could be programmed to listen for a voice response.

Second comment: Getting in a 2,000 pound or more vehicle to go from point A to point B is the most dangerous thing most people do everyday. Should not be made more dangerous to everyone on the road by being distracted to manipulate a keyboard.

A personal aggravation is not having a phone keypad after placing a call and getting a phone tree. ie. press 1 for sales, 2 for... you must take out your phone to get where you need to go. You can change the radio stations, etc. Why not the keypad for the phone? I usually place the call using Apple CarPlay.
