Can someone tell me if starting the cabin controls in the Ford App will precondition the battery also, or is that just warming the cabin, it is a bit of a pain to set departure time and then have to cancel.
Apologies if a a dumb question

Dozens of threads on this.

Cabin only. Need to set a departure time, while plugged into 240v, to precondition the battery.

Not a dumb question. Ford makes preconditioning the battery much more clunky than it needs to be. Departure times are fine if you want them, but there should also be a one-time "Precondition Now" button. Many of us have been complaining about this for years.

And based on a question from a few days ago it appears you may not be able to just set a departure for like an hour from now and have it take effect. Times must be set-up in advance. Probably a server thing. I have no experience myself - just passing this on.

I've actually set the departure time for 20 minutes from now a couple times in the last few days and it's worked to start preconditioning and whatnot. The biggest problem was getting FordPass to actually be able to send that command/schedule to the car; sometimes it just sat spinning for a while and then failed (without any error messages, of course). I had to set it in the car for it to work (again, 20 minutes from now and it worked just fine).

Of course, since this is a Ford product, what worked for me doesn't mean it'll work for everyone. ?

I'm with you. The preconditioning schedule is fine for people like commuters who have repetitive departure time. I want just what you posted about, too.

It seems like it would be easy for them to make this a one button step the same as the cabin option
There are a lot of easy software things that they just can't or won't do. Precondition now and a pet mode have been requested so many times since this car came out and there's no indication either will ever happen. But hey, we got a few new games and the karaoke feature is coming, so there's that

This ^^^

If you had me list 5,000 things I wanted in a car, karaoke wouldn't make the list. I wouldn't come up with 5,000, and it still wouldn't make the list. It's like Ford has an echo chamber for ideas.

It’s almost like Ford has a platform that 3rd party companies can pay to port their preexisting applications to another arm based system or something.

At least Departure Times do work now. Back in late '21 an update to Ford Pass broke it and Departure Times didn't work consistently for almost a year. Had to go outside to enter it directly into the car. But Ford did ultimately get it to work correctly. Of course that was just one of many early issues we had to deal with. I am sure Ford is very thankful for the testing we all did.

I spoke to Ford they said yes level 1 does precondition yet some say no. I agree a button would be great. I set my nav for EA which was about 25 miles away. Was 36F I can only ASSume is was preconditioning

Dozens of threads on this.
You'll note at the bottom of this page that there are lots of preconditioning threads. Next time I encourage you to use the Forum's search feature before starting yet another.

@Mach-Lee's thread notes that while YES, it does precondition on level 1 / 120v, the reality is that it's only a few degrees and not much help.

If you want to change ASSume to KNOW, simply buy an OBD reader and the Car Scanner app.
