Powertrain modules are the PCM, ABS, BECM, SOBDM, SOBDMC, and on AWD vehicles, the SOBDMB.

Anytime any one of those modules are called out in a TSB, SSM, CSP for an update all the rest of the ones that also have available updates will be updated by the scripted procedure in FDRS.

I am a very new owner of a ‘24 Mach E with a NCM extended range battery, so apologies for my question if it has already been answered.

What, exactly, is the issue with the 12V battery related to this Ford alert? Is it only that the 12V battery drains completely to a dead state?

Would there be symptoms of a vehicle having the issue without the 12V going completely dead?

Also, is this an issue that is witnessed when the vehicle is plugged in, not plugged in, or either?

Again, apologies, but trying to determine if my vehicle is having this issue & also trying to make sure I know what to keep an eye out for while I wait to see if my dealer recommends the software update for my vehicle right away or not.

Cool. Now do 2021s.
Just had my 2021 Select towed to the dealer yesterday due to the 12V LVB and/or the HVBJB issue!!! --- used Ford Roadside and it went well. Waiting to hear from the dealer today.

Could someone take a look at my VIN and see if this (or anything) is due for my 21 GTPE? Haven't received any updates for a long while. 3FMTK4SX4MME00053

This might explain why my very new 2024 is draining 3-5% of battery after coming off the charger overnight before draining at a normal rate....
Hope this fixes that issue.

It's pretty fishy this gets posted and suddenly a bunch of other people who are somehow not in this recall have extreme 12V battery drain issues appear. My '21 is in the shop right now for heavy unexplained 12V battery discharge.

I have a 2021 MME Select and it’s doing the same thing. I don’t know if it’s the exact same issue. But I’ve gone through 2 batteries in a month. I am beyond frustrated at this point.
And just like the last few weeks, no response from @Ford Motor Company

The 12V AGM battery that Ford uses in the MME has a life span of between 3-4 years. Most 2021s are already due for a new 12V battery. It could be that your low battery isn’t due to discharge but to a failing 12V battery. ??

12V battery has already been changed and yet new fresh batteries continues to be killed. Could be a bad DC/DC converter though, I don't think that's been entirely ruled out.

My '24 is scheduled for Weds morning @ home.

Hoping I can talk them into updating the rest of the modules while plugged in.

When I got into my car and started it I had an alert over the weekend that there was a drain on my battery. It hasn’t come back. I don’t have a recall notice yet. 2021

This is what was happening to my 24 GT after charging to 90%. I thought I may be going crazy, but it would drop about 5% in 4 miles. I just happened to have a nail in my tire so I took it to the dealership the day this came out. I'll post if it fixes the issue.

I've noticed that too on the weekends when I don't have departure times set up. I'd chalked it up to temperature differences from when charging terminates at approx 1 am to when I drive it after the sun is up a while. I've only had the car two months, and haven't gotten any software update notifications yet, so I assume it has the same versions it was built with in August 2024.

I edited my reply to you. Waiting for Lee to check to see if the SOBDMC will satisfy the CSP or not. I don't see where you had any powertrain updates so this CSP has not been done yet on your car.
@cbcasas That's odd, but it looks like that vehicle already has the updated PJ98-14F476-AV SOBDM software from the factory (it was released for shipment right before the cutoff date). Still flagged for the CSP despite this. So you're probably good, but you may want the dealer to take a look at that and get those other powertrain modules updated as well.
Dealer just finished my car. Do you guys mind pulling my VIN again and seeing what happened on the back end? I also asked them to update those Powertrain modules. Thanks!!
