It's all good until they named it a Mustang. As an owner and all-in EV guy the only regret I have is buying a car with the mustang name. It's a great car but the fan base has made it a displeasure to be in at times. They should have used a different name. It's the one and only serious flaw in the car.
That "fan base" is a bunch of shallow thinking social media warriors hiding behind their keyboard with funny sounding names for the most part. Ford badged the MME a Mustang for good reason: Ford wants to compete and WIN in the EV world. Ford is in the business of selling cars and trucks. If you want to compete and win, you have to put your best players on the field, Mustang and F-150, not the E-scape or the Galax-E or any other second teamer. Its as simple as that. Serious flaw? I don't think so.

This was the original Ford all electric vehicle concept prior to Ford adding the Mustang name to the platform.

After the Mustang name was added, the entire concept project was rebuilt into what we have now. And I'm glad Ford did it!

I'm glad, too. I definitely wouldn't have given that thing a second look, let alone buy one.

As a designer (who, fun fact, actually studied automotive design) I can tell you a lot of information is missing from a profile view...so I'd want to see more views to get a better feel for the original concept before passing judgement. That said, for sure one of the big reasons we've ordered the Mach-e over competitors is everything y'all have mentioned...the Mach-E is not a boring, jellybean SUV. It really sets itself apart, in a good way.

Herr is how serious this flaw is. I, an avid to the extreme EV adopter and promoter will not own this vehicle any longer than necessary. I love that another major player has entered the fray but will not tolerate or accept any further abuse from the Mustang mafia. Ford chose this name and clearly did not understand their own customer base. With the ever increasing options available to us who can not only afford these cars but also have the means to change them out, Ford better get with the program and do better next time. I had already place a deposit on the next alternative that is available and will pass along the hate magnet to someone who is better suited to take the repeated abuse of the Ford Mustang Mafia going forward. That is a serious flaw, one that drives a customer away even after they have paid. Not only that but a fellow colleague went to the competitor based on being with me on several occasions where these comments were made and just couldn't put up with it either. That, is serious, and is thier one and only flaw.

I haven’t had any issues with the mustang crowd. All I hear is “that’s an awesome car” and frequently get the thumbs up while driving. I’m sure it’s coming but 2000 miles in, not one negative comment.

I think the original concept looks like the EV successor to the Ford Probe... (which itself was a failed attempt at a modernized Mustang.)

I don't understand why you would give up a car because you are being trolled by "proper" Mustang owners. It is those people that are shallow and brainless so why bow down to them? Perhaps in the UK it's different as there's really no Mustang history. All reactions to my car have been positive with most saying it's the car they want for when they get an EV. I've even had people (usually males) just stop walking and stare and when they're with their partners hang back and give a sly look as I go by. Space White by the way.

If people walk up to you and insult you or your car, I'd assume there was something very wrong with them. Normal, healthy people don't go out of their way to insult and belittle other people. You have to be a bit off upstairs to do that. Those are the types that you go "wat?" then laugh at them as you drive away in your super comfy car ?

I'm just gonna enjoy my car, my life and if some individuals get their socks in a twist then that's on them, not me. To me its just bizarre being like that as an grown adult. Its like those petty arguments we had as a teenagers where we fought about which was better; xbox or playstation. When we grow up we realize everyone just want to have fun and enjoy games and those arguments were dumb as hell.

I guess people were like that to those who first adopted EVs, though. I see people buying EVs now that hated them 10 years ago, and said they weren't real cars. Give the mustang crowd 5 years ?

I drove a Chevy Bolt EV for 2+ years before this and never had a negative expirence with anyone. Basic and easy questions about range and charging. All positive and even when they said it was not for them they were polite. However, now, I don't get that for the majority of the time. I just get pure hate based solely.on the name. They have no interest in how cool, functional, fun and enjoyable it is. All they focus on is the name and I, as the owner bear the brunt.

It was wrong for Fors to name it this way and while everyone can say just ignore it, I say, I paid 55K for this and should not have to pay for the name anymore.

Sorry, but I don't have the thick internet, social media skin and frankly shouldn't have to. Ford made a huge mistake in the name and only the name.

I am a bleeding edge early adopter of a lot of things and can easily take someone else's opinion that what is new and fun for me just instead for them. However, it's just a name this time and I just am not willing to put up with it for the sake of Ford.

I respect what you are saying; just wanted to share my experience, being a fellow Carolina EV car guy and long time Mustang fan. I recently attended Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach, where some estimated 2000 to 2500 other ICE mustangs owners attended. With spectators included, I'd say total attendance was close to 10,000 people. My MME was in the show for two days on Friday and Saturday in early September, front and center, with me standing beside it, receiving many, many comments and questions from fellow ICE Mustang owners and passerbys. If ever there were a "Mustang mafia" gathering, this would be it. All I can tell you is that the overwhelming majority of ICE Mustang owners, who passed by, had positive comments, no abuse or hate whatsoever. Now, it is common to get questions about why Ford badged it a Mustang, but that is certainly to be expected. As an EV adopter and promoter myself, I enjoy answering that question. Best regards,

As an owner of mustangs in the past, I have no problem with the name, especially as it is distinguished as Mustang Mach-E. Now had they solely called it a Mustang, I'd not have liked that... in the end, I think most of us call it the Mach-E.

Calling it a Mustang would be fine if it had the performance goods, but it doesn't. Ford's 70 thousand dollar Mustang GT Performance Edition has a trap speed similar to sub 30,000 dollar Honda family sedans.

I'm thinking no way Ford is going to continue to limit MME quarter mile trap speed to around 101 mph, at least I hope not. If Tesla can do it, so can Ford; simple as that. Got to see it come up into the teens, right? Now 0-60 is awesome as is. Track times need to be on par with MY as well. Lets just say Ford has made an EV Mustang in its first year with some performance improvements needed. I suspect the engineers want to preserve battery system longevity? It will be an interesting balancing act to follow.
