FordPass - somebody should get fired

I give up posting after this... I would sound like a broken record if I continue. So much bad information based on pure assumptions.

Facts - FP has a frunk button that works for some of us. FP isn't just plug and play like it should be. If you don't change permissions you'll get battery drain, bad locations, crappy PaaK and the list goes on. 1.7.1 is just a sync update, it doesn't do anything else, update other modules or enable other features.

Unfortunately technology has it's limits with the non technically inclined. Just like I'm terrible performing brain surgery...

If you struggle with tech, carry a FOB.

If you really want help search for PaaK and myself as the author or DM me. I'm always here to help.

Should FordPass be better ... Yes yes yes yes, no argument. Remember FP is only 1/2 of the equation. If your modules are outdated then the issue is the car and Ford's poor OTAs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still hoping software issues will be upgraded and fixed, but these are just 'nice to have' stuff – not essentials.

I wish that Ford gave us the same key as the EU-spec cars. I would have a frunk button at that point and wouldn’t care about FordPass. As it is in the US (and I suspect Canada and Other parts of North America), we have no way to open the frunk without opening the door first. ?‍

I would recommend deleting the PaaK from the car. `General` -> `Reset` -> `Paak Reset`. NOT master reset.

I did this and was able to add an Android PaaK.

EDIT: Oh yeah, FP also thinks that I am in Detroit and I am getting spurious false messages that my doors are being opened. I am staring out the window at my car. Nobody has been near it. ??

I'm betting it's those sneaky dogs. You sure they aren't trying to take it for a joy ride? LOL

I do not have any of those functions either. My Fordpass app says I need to set up pakk even though my phone is listed in the paak key settings on the app and is listed in the car. I can open and drive the car about 75% of the time even though the app says I need to set up phone paak. It's F'ing ridiculous

Try deleting the PaaK from the car and doing it again. This allowed me to set up an Android after the iPhone failed. So, now I know it's not the modem in the car.

I have tried every which way I could see to try from this forum, from the manual, and from just trying different crap. I've deleted and reinstalled everything possible both on my phone and in the car. Once I get my PPF done I am going to see if the dealer can fix it. It took a while to get that appointment and I don't want to miss it because the car got trapped at the dealer. It's really a shame how this stuff sours your experience with the car because it's a blast to drive.

do you mind replying with the forums that solved the battery drain on Android? I disabled PAAK b/c of that but it was working great for me.

Me too!!! FOB in pocket works for me and FOB in purse works for my Wife!!

I was just talking to my wife about the recent OTA she got to her MyBMW app that connects her 330e to Android auto..... truly impressive release notes detailed what was changed and updated.

FP might want to take a page from their book on that...

I deleted my PaaK through the Settings->General etc steps and created a new key. No change in FordPass app missing the second row of buttons. I then deleted the PaaK and then my profile and set up everything as new. No joy. I am also tried to send my profile to the car from FordPass and I got this error:

It seems as if there is more than one problem here. The FP app seems to be able to communicate with the car but the car won’t do some things that the app might be looking for. ?‍

EDIT: I noticed no matter how I try to open a door, the car complains of an unauthorized opening. I can use the fob to unlock the car or open the lift gate and it will complain. I can use the FP app to unlock the car and it will complain. I can open the frunk from the Sync screen (with the car running) and it will complain. I can just let the car sit and it will complain even though nobody has been trying to open anything. My car is dumb! ??
