I was just talking to my wife about the recent OTA she got to her MyBMW app that connects her 330e to Android auto..... truly impressive release notes detailed what was changed and updated.

FP might want to take a page from their book on that...
Ford needs to take a page out of BMW and TESLA.. My TESLA phone APP is almost Seamless to my MME.. what a Joke FORD, it works like my first Radio Shack computer.. :)

Last 2 days FP tells me charging status and nothing else. Cannot set departure time, lock or unlock... Multiple devices, logged out and back in. Server issues again.

Departure time issues go way beyond server issues. The car ignores them at will, no matter where you try to set them.

Sad part is, it takes about an hour to reproduce the issue. No one literally tested shit on it, as the modules would've failed even the most basic unit testing.

Only work around is to set a "departure time" on your alarm, and make the car cycle 2 manual "start" cycles. (-19c outside right now). Luckily I have a car that actually does what I tell it to, so I'm not stranded with a happy go lucky MME.

Edit: Perhaps ironically, the set of option that works best is to prevent precon on battery, set a time, and unplug the car.

I guess a software company (Tesla) makes a better app. Im a little surprised by BMW, but... I have a Jeep (Uconnect), GMC (My GMC), and the MME (FP) and they are all equally terrible. Hell with the GMC if it fails to send the signal to do whatever remotely the app will stay in that state until you log out of it and back in, closing, restarting... nothing. And you cant do any remote actions in that state.

Ford is not a software company, and they havent realised that they need to be yet.

As I type this I realize I STILL dont have the 1.7 OTA, and Journeys stopped working when i got my new phone in september... it really feels like no one makes good software any more. dont even get me started on video games... sheesh.

Disclaimer: My PoV does not represent Ford Motor Company.

As a MachE user, my wife and I could not agree more about annoyness of seeing those Key Not Detected on the screen.
Unfortunately as @DevSecOps mentioned, FP doesn't control that part. FP can only answer when the vehicle is asking where is the Phone/FOB? ?‍♂ If somehow the Bluetooth signal is weak or FP doesn't answer the vehicle's question quick enough, (it is computational heavy to jump through all the craziness of cyber security), and you see that infamous Key Not Detected. ?
You asked to be notified when the app kills a phone battery, and it happened to me today. I don't know what set it off, but I was away from the car and before I noticed my phone was totally dead.

I’ve use PAAK exclusively but for one day over the last 6 months. OTA updates and recent 10,000 mile dealer service (& including windshield resealing) and dealer software updates have continued to improve PAAK to the point that I’ve no issues.

Absolutely no issues with my FordPass. I use it extensively, and think I've used every single feature with no issue.

Do you put your phone on the charging pad or leave it in your pocket? What pocket do you normally use? What phone do you have?
I have no issues only if the phone is placed on the pad, but I don't have long history of using it.

Charging pad, cup holder, or passenger seat typically.

I was able to get my iPhone to connect as a PaaK yesterday. Thanks again for the help @dsuyang. I highly recommend deleting the phone from the car and starting clean. I was also able to get the 90% charge limit respected by deleting the location and starting over. It's sitting on the juice now and I'm going to double check again in about an hour when I go to run errands.

Drove all over Denver yesterday and I was not gentle with the go pedal, but still ended up with 3.1 miles/KW. I'm getting better with 1 pedal driving and estimating the distance to stop. The joy was enhanced when I did the calculations and realized that the Juicebox charger topped the car for $2.83 with energy despite hours of driving. The other adjustment that I'm learning is that just because you can pass anybody you see on side streets or the freeway doesn't mean you need to do that! To paraphrase @Davedough "It's the best 5 seconds of your life"!

I precondition the cabin in winter for a 6 am departure. Can’t do that at work though.

I walk to the garage at about 6 am with my 12 Pro in my left shirt pocket. I’ve already opened Ford Pass and confirmed charge, unlocked door. After I’m seated I plug the phone into the USB cable and set it on the passenger’s seat.

When I leave work about 10 hours later.. same process. Of course the cabin can be damned chill ?

You are very welcome! It happened to my iPhone/Android before until I discovered the Paak reset on the vehicle side. I tested the Paak setup process too frequently, which might have confused the vehicle. :)

Had my car for 13 days now, and yes, the FordPass app isn't totally great – lots of bugs and issues.

What is good: I have two materialized keys that actually work (also on frunk), and the car is a pleasure to drive!

What is 'bad': The phone app and sync etc. isn't working as it should, but as a software engineer, I knew I was indirectly signing up for beta testing when ordering the car. I'm using Android btw. Guessing Ford is working hard to update the app, and I'm hoping they will prioritize this.

You don't really need the app, but I hope FordPass and Android Auto will function well together soon.

I'd be happy to provide detailed feedback to @Ford Motor Company as a good beta tester would do.
I'm curious. What type of phone do you have? Also, do you know if your car has the PAAK update? I ask because when I first started using PAAK on my S21 Ultra, like everyone else, I was having a horrible experience. If it worked 40% of the time I was lucky!

After getting the PAAK update and with the updates to the FordPass app, my PAAK has been rock solid. It's performance has gotten better and better. So much so that I used it on a weekend road trip and didn't have any issues. It works very well now. I don't have to take my phone out of my pocket and open the app. The car just opens when I hit the button, same for the trunk.

I've only had one issue. The other day, for some reason my bluetooth connection dropped. I just turned my bluetooth off and back on and the app immediately reconnected to the car.

So, if you're having issues, get the PAAK update and make sure your FordPass app is up to date.

And that gets us back to why has ford already abandoned the early adopters? ?
I've been "ignoring" this thread, so a bit of a late response.

I don't think Ford has abandoned the early MME adopters, at least not yet. I think the OTA delivery system is far more complicated and has afar steeper learning curve than they had anticipated.
