Driving home last Friday with the wife after dinner, woman in a Nissan Rogue made a left in front of us across two lanes. Don’t know how she didn’t see us, but she didn’t. Truck actually started braking before I could get my foot to the brake pedal and I had probably slowed to less than 15mph when I struck the side of their truck, right behind the front door. I basically hit the rear door and rear wheel, knocked them into a concrete divider/curb, which folded their other rear tire and snapped the axle. Deployed every air bag on the passenger side of their truck and somehow, the exhaust fell off the bottom. Here is my damage, initial assessment is $9800 before supplemental.

Ouch! So sorry this happened. I hope it gets fixed quickly and completely. Don’t forget to get a Diminished Value claim filed along with the repair claim. 🙁🐩

The GEICO adjuster actually brought that up as well. I am familiar with the process, so wasn’t to concerned until I had the car repaired and a full cost on repairs. The Adjuster told me he would be floored if it was less than $12K but figured DV would be as much as $15K due to used ones in South Carolina selling for $10K over new car MSRP.

I’m so sorry you have to go through this. Thankful no one was hurt, and that it can be fixed. It’d be a long wait for another one. Best of luck to you.
insurane guys must be going nuts with inflation and the increased values of used cars, lack of parts and lack of new cars!
take care!

Sorry this happened to you. Ouch!! 🤕

Just to clarify what you meant to say… did your Mach-E trigger pre-collision assist to slow your car down? If so, glad it likely helped reduce the impact for everyone!

Ugh! Stinks.
I just had a 9 year old Mazda fixed that had similar damage to your MME. Talking with the repair shop about the MME I'm planning on buying, the repairman immediately jumped into his pocket of knowledge and told me that parts are a huge problem on the newest of cars at the moment. Be prepared for some bad news anout parts. Hopefully it gets fixed up quick. Good luck.

It sucks, luckily nobody was hurt. As for the car you're lucky it didn't touch the headlights or else you may have found yourself without the car for an extended period of time

Agree-- bummer about the damage & repair costs but glad everyone is OK. Really interested in answer to above-- if pre-collision reduced speeds as designed, it'd be good evidence on the effectiveness of the tech to prevent/minimize injury.

I believe it did. I saw her and felt the truck starting to brake about the same time I started applying brake. I don't recall an "alert" just that it started slowing itself down.

It did touch the headlight. The driver side headlight is damaged(scuffed). Body shop has already ordered what they suspect they will have to replace, but car isn't scheduled until the 9th of Sep. I am driving it around. Bluecruise and everything else still seems to work fine. I can tell the headlights aren't angled correctly at night, but it isn't that big of a deal.

I would not be relying on BlueCruise or any of the ADAS.

Why? All indications are that everything is working as it was supposed too. Only issue I have is that I am scared to open the hood. It was hell getting it shut again after the adjuster opened it to look at the damage inside the frunk. Lane Keeping, Intelligent Cruise(distance keeping) and BlueCruise were all working as they did prior to the accident.

Scuffed is one thing, broken 8s another. The housing can be replaced but if the whole headlight is broken that's a different story

I was trying to figure out how the truck was involved, but I think I’ve figured out that you’re calling your Mach-E a truck. And the Nissan Rogue is also a truck?
