Placed vinyl stripes on hood

Recently wrapped front in PPF and now placed vinyl stripes on hood. VERY easy to apply and cost $15 per 5'x1' stripe, 3M 2080, 1.25" gap. Still working on lift gate stripes as that is more difficult than anticipated.... Anyone have some helpful suggestions or experience placing vinyl stripe on liftgate?

I did the lift gates on my Mach-E’s in sections. The hardest part is wrapping over the edge from the flat surface below the window to the vertical surface where the camera is. Trying to pull the film over that edge results in stretching it and the deformity becomes obvious. I laid knifeless tape horizontally there and made a butt connection. It was invisible. Then I allowed a break in the stripes where the horizontal indentation is. Wrapping into the indentation put a lot of pull on the film and also caused it to stretch funny.

That is great idea. Yes, that area by the camera is the problem. Thanks!

Yeah, I had no problem with mine....I just took it to the shop I can't imagine trying to do it. You did a great job on the hood though!

I am going to take a picture today. If I do stripes again, I may try larger piece of vinyl and use knifeless tape to create the stripes. I think that would give a good outcome as well? I used individual 12" stripes and cut where suggested and I think it looks good. Also, debadged the trunk and figuring what new badge to place.

Oh shit! Now I see why it was so bad on the back. My stripes are way more narrow, so they miss the tail lights. Yeah, that must have been a bitch. Looks great though.

Looks really good @Thundersnow. But I agree. Knifeless tape is how the professionals do it. And there is a reason for that.

Yeh, I think if they were more narrow it would be less difficult. Will post some full pics! . Freezing cold outside currently.

You gonna put the GT emblem back on? I left the stripes off the front of mine, since I am gonna put a license plate wrap on since I'm in CA....but if you aren't gonna have one, you should put the stripes on the little strip of red on the front
