I'm wondering if just blasting (very carefully and masked off, mind you) the area with spray paint might not be as effective. Might require touchup in time, but definitely would call out the area.

Does anyone know how a properly equipped Ford service lift docks with the lift points? Is there a pin that mates into the hole? I’m wondering if these Corvette/Tesla pads would interfere with the proper lift.

I had my HVBJB replaced after installing the 'trimmed' Tesla pucks.... My Dealership thought they were great and left them in place rather than using the shop version with looks more like a brick. So, fine as long as the battery tray can be dropped straight down.

I had two HVBJB replacements with my pads on and no complaints from either dealer.

They will not use the jack pads during the battery drop, the lift goes on special lifting blocks that are attached to the outboard chassis below the doors. These hold the body while allowing the battery to drop on the lift table.

Ford really needs to incorporate clearly marked lift points that don’t require any special tools, homemade labels and a PhD in engineering.
For sure. Tow points too. Would be so easy to label them clearly and officially.

Those little tiny triangles are pretty pathetic as being clear and obvious. They're hard to even notice unless you're looking hard for them.

So sorry to hear about the damage they caused. I changed from all season to winter tires in Nov and based on where the lift points are located, the way to avoid damage is to use a block that fits between the battery rails and the plastic trim piece…in addition to the advice that @Mach-Lee cited above about a rolling jack. Even if the floor jack didn’t slip, simply lifting without blocks will cause some damage the outboard plastic trim piece.

I ended up taking another member’s advice and buying lift blocks and keeping them in the vehicle in case something like this happens.
Do you have a link for lift blocks

First, really sorry about the damage.

Second...I am sure there are reasons, but hey Ford. What's the logic in, "Lift here...right where we placed a hole (to weaken the rail) and we will add a big bolt for fun. Probably the same engineers who came up with Bathroom faucets, toilets and paper towel dispensers with sensors on them to make "work".

Thanks for the video, but I really don't recommend a block of 2x4 wood, especially if you notch out for the bolt. That messes with the grain of the wood and it could crack under load. If you are going this route, then order a block of Delrin and cut out the notches with nice radii in there to eliminate stress risers.

I actually found a 4-ton bottle jack at Harbor Freight (say what you want, but I like the Harbor). Their compressed height is 7.25 inches and just slide under the MME. But there are 2 things I don't like about them. One, the head diameter is pretty small. I am trying to figure out how to replace the head (economically)with something with a larger diameter to spread out the load. The second thing is that the lift height to remove the tires is near the max of their extension(7 inches of lift). But they did work great. I was able to get all 4 tires/wheels off. I also used jack stands (as close as possible to the lift area) because the bottle jacks have a narrow base.

I like bottle jacks because they lift vertically. You don't need to worry about the the floor jacks needing to roll and aligning the jacks perpendicular the vehicle, thus needing a massive amount of space(also my drive way is not smooth enough). Remember, if a floor jack doesn't roll when lifting, they will slide out. Yes, I spent the time giving 1-2 pumps, go to the next jack and then circling the car to lift it as flat as possible.

They are not expensive. I think $30 each. I think they were on sale for $20 a year ago. They store in a smaller area and I don't throw out my back moving them around.

OK, say more. Where do I get those “LIFT HERE” stickers? What are lift blocks and where do I get them?
