I agree. I am really glad I did it.

I am unhappy to report that although you can’t tell the difference in the photos I can confirm that it was a total waste of money. After a week or so my car looked exactly the same as it did before I did i

I feel like it’s worth it and you can tell the difference in how the car reacts when it is cleaned, but there are different grades of ceramic coating, and many places use low grade products, unfortunately. I’ve seen a clear difference on my cars that have been professionally coated, but you still need to clean the cars and have refresher applications done yearly to keep it looking good. If you are washing your car in an automatic car wash with brushes, you will wear it off much faster

Reminds me of a great 90s movie named “Go.”

There is a scene where they’re trying to make a quick buck and sell advil to some kids acting like it’s a strong drug.

They tell the kids, “the secret is to smoke lots of weed when you take it.”

Kid takes the pill, smokes some weed and says “yeah, I think I feel something……”

When I learned about the amount of care needed to keep a ceramic coat looking nice…….. I was out.

Wow. Quite the turnaround from your initial post. Sorry to hear that.

I am getting my ceramic coating on Monday on my Mach-E and also doing my wife's 2023 Lexus RX350L . I am picking up her Lexus tonight from the dealership, it took Lexus over 5 months to build it. I had it done to my Cadillac CTS-V as well.

It makes the finish look like a mirror. It's a lot of money to do it but you won't have to wax it again. Supposedly, the package I am getting has a lifetime warranty. I have the same shop doing it as last time.

🤨

Ceramic coatings are just glossy. So is your paint. If it's new or freshly polished paint, there's not a lot of discernable difference the ceramic coatings makes...visually.

It's a benefit by providing a very durable sacrificial layer to your paint that makes it easier to clean, resists micro abrasions and protection from chemicals, bird droppings, etc.

It's hard enough to tell the difference from treated versus untreated panels right next to each other let alone discerning a difference from one week to the next.

Not sure if folks are marketing this differently than it should be, but ya gotta go into these things with realistic expectations.

I DIY'd my MME a while back...don't remember when exactly. October or November 21? Then I had to get my hood repainted because I...fell...on it. And anywho I didn't recoat it. I can go wash the car and tell the obvious difference in beading on all my other panels besides the hood. Dirt still just comes right off the rest of the car...the hood however... I need to coat it.

I feel like you posted without reading the thread………

My car has no ceramic coat, never been waxed, and also looks like a mirror…….. every time I wash it.

While you may not need to wax it, you have to do other things to maintain it. It’s not any less work.
