  1. Preparing for Mach-E charging at home - preparation and installing charger

For anyone thinking of doing this, please reconsider. This is very unlike most installations because you’re actually pulling full current from the circuit for 8hrs straight. Every. Single. Thing. About the installation has to be perfect and up to code, otherwise if you do it wrong and have a...
  2. INFINITE BLUE METALLIC Mach-E Club

Looks good but pretty much meaningless until seen in normal lighting. I’d love if it were actually that blue but I doubt it.
  3. First Production Mach-E Model? [Update: This Is First Assembly Line Made Pre-Production Unit]

It’s got to be right, Any lower and it’d be over the shutters. But I can’t say I’m thrilled about it.
  4. Ford Charger for Mach-E

It’s no different than any installation you’d see for an other 48A EVSE if you want to check out installation summaries online, but in general, L2 acts as neutral in US setups- usually there aren’t 4-wire setups. But the electrician would take care of all that for you when you get an install...
  5. Mach-E Makes UK Debut in Stunning Satin Blue

The select and the GT come with the glass roof optional. It lowers the headroom a little. Glass is standard on premium and California Rt 1
  6. Mach-E Makes UK Debut in Stunning Satin Blue

I’d love to get this color but satin is so hard to take care of. I’m really dying for a decent blue on this car though.
  7. Ford Charger for Mach-E

Solar is a really cool point of these stations. Realistically DCFC companies get most of their overhead costs from demand spike charges- essentially when utility companies penalize them heavily for the peak power the draw. On a grid you usually want nice steady energy production, and lots of...
  8. Ford confirms Mach-E will launch in American and Europe at the same time

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/ford-mach-e-electric-suv-europe-america-sales/ Ford Mach-E electric SUV: American and European launches to coincide In Europe, Norway will get first dibs on the EV. The Ford Mustang is about as American as it gets when it comes to the US auto industry, but...
  9. Ford Charger for Mach-E

I mean, maybe try the included charging equipment first. The mobile charger is pretty nice. The connected charge station is also really nice if you’re going to do a hardwired unit anyways.
  10. Ford Charger for Mach-E

I mean he’s right the EPA estimates aren’t out yet.
  11. Ford Charger for Mach-E

https://electrek.co/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2020/02/Screen-Shot-2020-02-06-at-6.00.58-AM.jpg?resize=1428,1000 Well the model Y is 28kWh/100 mi. If we assume a 10% reserve on the publicized then it still comes out to 29.6kWh. Guess we’ll have to see what the final EPA range numbers are.
  12. Ford Charger for Mach-E

Yeah but it’s less range per kWh. It adds power at the same rate but doesn’t go as far per kWh.
  13. Ford Charger for Mach-E

So just because the car accepts the same amount of power doesn’t mean that it generates the same mileage per unit electricity. The 32A on the Mach-E generates around 22mi of range per hour, since the 99kW battery is 300miles of range. If the Mach-E had the same size battery as the Model 3 then...
  14. Ford Charger for Mach-E

So it’s a 14-50, NEC prohibits under supplying an outlet. Pretty much any electric equipment is designed to pull up to the full outlet current, so it wouldn’t make much sense to undersupply an outlet. Everything you plugged in would assume you had it wired correctly and trip the breaker.
  15. Ford Charger for Mach-E

Just so everyone knows, adapters that you use on the plug that are non-OEM are usually a bad idea, they can cause thermal issues if you buy a cheaper one. The OEM adapters are usually the best bet. What sorts of plugs does everyone use besides the 14-50 and 5-15?
  16. Will Ford Respond to revised 315mi range for Model Y?

@LYTMCQ what’s this with the car wash?
  17. Excellent Q&A with Ford/Mach-E Electric Vehicle Engineer

Can you give some more info on why the aluminum body of the model Y makes it typically more difficult to insure? I didn’t recognize that there were any other equivalent vehicles that have done such a thing as ModelY to compare to. Can you give an example?
  18. Ford Charger for Mach-E

Well @LYTMCQ is also in Cali if I remember correctly, so will be paying plain kWh charges unlike the rest of the country (for now). Might make more sense to start a DCFC thread though.
  19. Ford Charger for Mach-E

Ground pin is on top, but you should be able to put it in any outlet. I’m personally going to mount mine higher just for convenience but building code requires the outlets be a certain height off the ground in garages and outdoors. If any of you people use extension cords though, you will make...
