The update didn’t change your range, only the number displayed. If you can make 2 round trips this winter, you could have last year, too.

It’s also obvious because when you exit the car with it running, you get the double-honk as soon as you’re out of the car. As opposed to the walk away lock honk which doesn’t happen until your about 10’ away.
